Finally got to a game at Perth Stadium yesterday, and it was worth the wait.

Reflections?

* Tickets were expensive and relatively difficult to purchase pre-game, but the outstanding design of the stadium and ease of access via train and bus really impressed.

* Perth is a Bluebagger town. Where we were – up in the bleachers above the northern forward pocket – was a sea of navy blue.

* At long, long last, the bleak days are over. Carlton 2022 is locked and loaded.

* I would not swap Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay for any other KPF combination in the game. And their best years are still ahead.

* Jake Weitering’s return was enormous. Our defensive general.

* Lewis Young - Recruit of the Year.

* Jesse Motlop has an x-factor. Could be anything.

* Paddy Cripps is a human bulldozer. His last quarter was inspirational.

* Matty Cotterell continues to confound his critics.

* Val Perovic, Ange Christou and Chris Bryan – ah, the memories, as “Whoof” echoed around the ground each time Adam Saad kicked long.

* The Weagles have so many fair-weather supporters. The stands were half-empty halfway through the last quarter.

* The sun is bright this morning, and I’m walking tall.

Nice one, Pat. I only caught the last 15-20 mins on ABC Radio but it seemed the cheers were far louder for Carlton. It was quite confusing, my shoulders would instinctively slump when I heard the Perth crowd crescendo, then the commentator would exclaim "McKay!" and I'd wrack my brain trying to think who the Eagles had with that name. Bailey McKay? Jaxxon McKay? X Æ A-12 McKay?

Agree, amazing day out at a brilliant stadium, so easy to access and no aisle guard dogs stopping the kids getting down to the front during the warm up.

Even the ground level seats are elevated and still close to the action. We were 2nd row behind the Carlton goals in the last qtr and it was incredible.

Blues fans were so well represented, pockets all around the ground and plenty on the trains afterwards. The rain coming signalled a mass Eagles exodus.

Fantastic match day experience, thought the eagle was incredible to watch pre game.

Do like perth as a city

Onya Pat ...............so well said . And also to you Hammer .

But i reckon its hat's off to the Eagles coz despite the enormous difficult year they have had they never stopped trying . And hat's off to there coach Adam Simpson for the manful way he has handled his task . Talk to anyone in the football industry and you will not hear a bad word about Simmo .
