dont know about outcoached

The Freo v Saints game was similar in so many ways. Similar stats, similar shots on goals, similar inside 50s
Key difference was Freo didn't hand them 7 goals on a platter from stupid turnovers and they kicked straighter

yeah he was playing on a midget but crowding the forward line was a good ploy

Freo also didn’t allow Saints to clog up their forward 50. in the second half freo outclassed saints in every way. we might have done the same but couldn’t put scoreboard pressure on Saints so they always felt it was theirs for the taking.

Spot on. You can’t expect to win many games kicking 10.18 and constantly turning it over kicking into the corridor in the defensive half of the ground. Voss can’t kick the ball for them

Surely it wasn't the game where Troy Menzel kicked a late goal to win it?

It was. https://www.blueseum.org/Round+6%2C+2014

We haven’t beaten this mob since round 6 2014. They have beaten us 7 times since then.

No current Carlton player has played in a winning side for the Blues against WCE.

good. another voodoo to get off our backs this year in preparation for a stellar 2023.

having said that i’m off to run some laps of princess bark to work off some nervous energy!

Of course we get them as they come back to full strength... while other top 8 teams have used them as their play thing with half the side from the WAFL, we'll be lucky to get a win. Look for SPS to play a blinder just to rub it in. This season is now on a knife's edge after promising so much

a couple of weeks ago someone said i was exaggerating to suggest if we lost both the freo and saints games our position in the eight would become vulnerable. even with the freo win (which i didn’t expect) it’s not guarantied at all.

I am confident we will beat West Coast, but regardless it is not season over.

Everyone (including Carlton supporters, opposition supporters and the media) keep assuming that it's a foregone conclusion that we will lose to the Cats, Demons, Brisbane and even Collingwood. Bullshit!!

Whilst I don't expect to win all 4, I reckon we will go 2 from 4 at worst. We are getting key players back at the right time and our best is good enough to match it with the best.

never said it’s season over! just pointing out there’s twelve teams within reach of the eight and we have some very tough games in our run home.

who’s nervous?

happened to be at the ground on Friday to accompany a young year 12 student who is a college of sport prospect (she much prefers richmond academy unfortunately and the open day presentation at carlton was pretty average tbh) and charlie was doing extras before the team came out to train on the oval. he only has about six shots from 30 m out, i hope he did a lot more extras during the week! he put at least one of them on the roof of the new gym which is almost as high as the goal posts fro. 30 out. a fair kick…

Gov was training but at that stage on his own with a coach doing kick/mark but jumping solo for marks and doing running circuits around the centre square. looks close. never seen him before. big unit!

Fair enough

I totally get your point, but I think we're still in a strong position if we win what we should win. Take a couple of scalps on the run to the finals and look out.

I am nervous today for sure, but sanity tells me we should win comfortably. We haven't had 2 stinkers in a row this year that I can remember?

yes. hopefully the upsets are to other teams and we don’t suffer any more upsets against us like the saints/collingwood/tigers games. all very winnable at our best, even with injured players out.

I don't think he was out coached.

He backed his game plan and his players. He said that.
He made the adjustment moving Cottrell to Hill.

Carlton played average, but still had 10 more shots at goal, 3 went OOB on the full.
5 shots from dead infront mised and you wouldnt have seen those 2 gimme goals Saints kicked late in time on in the last.

We didnt take our opportunities when they presented IMO.

We shouldve won by 15 points, not lost...anyway, we move on....Today is here and another opportunity presents itself.

True

That's on a weekly basis, not just vs saints.

Have to work that out better.
Maybe its easier said than done.

 Hang on, I will look at my crystal ball....looking foggy...

5 goals.

One more than them, each quarter and one more, because we have more weapons than them.

The cheats may have opened a path back to the top 4 if we can get our shit together for the run home.

Lions have a very tough run as well. GWS should be easy but then they have Gold Coast at Metricon, Richmond at the G, us, Saints, and Melbourne. We have an 8 point game against them which could determine who makes the 4

Gotta beat the Weagles first… And then beat some very good sides in the last 3-4 weeks. It’s in our hands though. If we’re good enough over the next 6 weeks we can make it

Carlton debut for Will Hayes, who will be our medical sub this afternoon at Optus Stadium!

We also have a late change, with Josh Honey replacing Matthew Owies (calf strain) in the starting line-up.

15 marks inside 50 compared to St Kilda's 8 tells me 2 things.
1. Our forwards had plenty of opportunities to mark the footy.
2. Your assessment isn't based upon fact.

Unless Voss instructed the players to miss easy shots from 15 minutes out, the players can take responsibility.

Cerra warming up without bandaging on his knee. Hopefully he's 100% to go this week.

We might not like it but I felt we were out coached last week.
Plenty of other points like bad kicking and terrible turnovers as well.
But when I say it’s coaching, it’s not just about Bossy, it’s also about our line coaches.
I felt our center clearances were awful and TDK was not allowed to use his leap. King playing wide dragging 4 defenders with him and leaving corridor open for Membrey as an example was poor coaching. We just needed to identify and adjust. Just 2 examples.
