This Game against West Coast is the most important Game in our entire Season. It is an 8 point Game. We can not afford to drop it, even though West Coast have gathered momentum and have been playing solid Football.

We must play for our lives tomorrow... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Every week now seems like an 8 pt game

A win today puts us 8 points clear of Tigers who currently sit 8th, and the Saints that aspire to make the 8... the two teams we've lost to in recent 8 point games

So if we're serious in making the 8... a win today is imper8tive

Blues by 8...

This aged well!!

It is likely we will be back in 5th today.

Teams are going to win some and lose some on the run home, all we can do is focus on winning and we will make it, may even sneak into a too 4 finish if we play to our full potential.

An 8 point game is where you win against a team that you are competing directly with for a spot on the ladder (i.e. Freo game, St. Kilda, Geelong). This isn't an 8 point game, this is just a must win game for a top 8 team against a bottom 2 team.

There is no reason why we should lose this, but if for some reason we do, it is hardly season over stuff with 6 games to go. Mentally it would be hard to recover from it though...

If only I had such power!

I am just trying to take the emotion out of it after last week's debacle.

We are a much better team than WC and have our best KPD back in the side and should win comfortably. We only really have ourselves to blame in the past 3 losses and I think it is unlikely that we put in another poor performance given our track record so far this year.

Still nervous, but trying to stick to the facts so that I can feel better about going to the game today!

a couple of weeks ago someone said i was exaggerating to suggest if we lost both the freo and saints games our position in the eight would become vulnerable. even with the freo win (which i didn’t expect) it’s not guarantied at all.

I am confident we will beat West Coast, but regardless it is not season over.

Everyone (including Carlton supporters, opposition supporters and the media) keep assuming that it's a foregone conclusion that we will lose to the Cats, Demons, Brisbane and even Collingwood. Bullshit!!

Whilst I don't expect to win all 4, I reckon we will go 2 from 4 at worst. We are getting key players back at the right time and our best is good enough to match it with the best.

never said it’s season over! just pointing out there’s twelve teams within reach of the eight and we have some very tough games in our run home.

who’s nervous?

happened to be at the ground on Friday to accompany a young year 12 student who is a college of sport prospect (she much prefers richmond academy unfortunately and the open day presentation at carlton was pretty average tbh) and charlie was doing extras before the team came out to train on the oval. he only has about six shots from 30 m out, i hope he did a lot more extras during the week! he put at least one of them on the roof of the new gym which is almost as high as the goal posts fro. 30 out. a fair kick…

Gov was training but at that stage on his own with a coach doing kick/mark but jumping solo for marks and doing running circuits around the centre square. looks close. never seen him before. big unit!

Surely it wasn't the game where Troy Menzel kicked a late goal to win it?

It was. https://www.blueseum.org/Round+6%2C+2014

We haven’t beaten this mob since round 6 2014. They have beaten us 7 times since then.

No current Carlton player has played in a winning side for the Blues against WCE.

good. another voodoo to get off our backs this year in preparation for a stellar 2023.

having said that i’m off to run some laps of princess bark to work off some nervous energy!

Am I the only still perplexed by the "Plowman out" narrative at every chance?

From where I have been sitting including in front of the TV and at games watching, he goes well...very well in many instances.

I get the whipping boy bit, but I thought we were beyond that now.

He has been very good...to exceptional, in some matches this year.

Anyway....

i think he gets exposed when we play badly or are undersized down back. he’s had an excellent year by his standards. people need to ease up on Plow. but old habits die hard! i know a few blues supporters who don’t want him playing any AFL games.

Fair enough

I totally get your point, but I think we're still in a strong position if we win what we should win. Take a couple of scalps on the run to the finals and look out.

I am nervous today for sure, but sanity tells me we should win comfortably. We haven't had 2 stinkers in a row this year that I can remember?

I feel a moral obligation to remind the world that Paddy Dow still exists despite being overtaken by everyone in the eyes of the selectors and this despite his regular winning of coaches votes. Don't think Cerra, Newnes or Honey offered that much more than Dow would have last week and whilst Motlop gets to the right spots, he rarely wins his own ball at this stage.
Hope Paddy isn't a confidence player because watching Will Hayes walk right past him after being there for 5 minutes would be fairly disheartening (no slight on Hayes - he is a good player who works hard)
Anyway - I feel I have fulfilled my mission and will now heartily support whoever runs out!

cerra was underdone last week, no doubt about it. i don’t think he’s an automatic selection coming back from injury with the rest of the first pick mids available (crisps, hewitt, kennedy and walsh if needed to start from CBs in midfield). he’ll lift today i hope, WA crowd watching on and all that.

Dow will get his opportunities in time. he needs to develop more to his game so when he comes in he can cement his spot. and be able to handle the pace of AFL ball movement and tackling.
