Charlie is just about the most exciting player in the AFL at moment and it brought to mind the other times when we had the most exciting, watchable player in the comp. So you get the choice from the following - just to watch for the joy of it:

Jezza
Bosustow
Fev
Charlie

Who do you pick? Jezza's peak was before my time, but could do everything, Buzz was the most exciting player in the league for three years he played for us, Fev was the only reason to go to the footy for about six years as a Blues supporter, and Charlie? - well its early days, but boy, when he is on...

I saw Jezza at his best. He is easily above the others. He is Carlton’s greatest ever

Jezza for sure. Fev was more trouble than he was worth, rumour is Britain wanted to get rid of him when he was coach. Buzz was only at Carlton for three years, was inconsistent, was terrible in the 1981 GF for instance. Charlie? Ask me again in about five years.

Jezza by the length of the straight.

The perfect footballer.

If this poll was limited to those who saw all four play then I'm not sure the other three would poll at all.

This is my opinion also.

I was pretty young when Jezza played, but he had a presence only matched by Ablett senior.

I’m gonna be unpopular and say Fev. He was an absolute freak who played in an era of ordinary Blues sides with very poor standards and made watching footy so so enjoyable. Put him in an 80s or 90s disciplined team with a solid coach and who knows…

Funny you say that.
One of my first jobs I was sitting next to an older Blues fan. I asked him about Jezza and he said he was like Ablett.

Jezza was something very special. But as our now sadly departed colleague Blue Sombrero said many times, Big Nick is the greatest ever Carlton player.

It’s not an easy call but Jezza for me ahead of Big Nick & Doull. All legends

My father who saw them all said the best three players ever were Coleman, Ablett Snr & Jezza.

Agree. Not as powerful but certainly as skilled and athletic. Wasn’t big either

I had 25 on my back when I was a very young fella, followed by 4.
Out of those 4, it’s not even a contest: Jezza wins hands down! Even though Buzz was electric for those couple of years, Jezza was supersonic for a decade!

In a few weeks we'll be able to watch Charlie and Jezza* at the same time.

Jezza, allround spectacular player; on the ground, in the air, in the heat and stuck a tackle

Fev was never dull to watch either, but not the specimen Jezza was.
