For the nervous nellies, who will we miss from our real best 22 against the 'aints.

Cerra is back. Weitering another week. Pittonet another couple. That's about it. The others are fringe. Sure it would be nice to have Marchbank, Boyd and the like in but they haven't really played enough this year to be included

Williams and McGovern were best 22 earlier this season when we had a healthy list.
I can't see why that has changed.

Williams yes.

McGovern no as he is injured more often than not..

Nevertheless, when not injured Zac and Gov/Marchbank are best 22 for me too.

Gov/ Marchy are both intercept marks often injured, but I have a feeling one of them will be playing the intercept role.
If the 2 are available, one may have to be sub.

Its an opinion business and we all have our bias, that's why I choose to be honest and accurate

For me best 22 players that were missing from last week are

Weitering
Cerra
One of McGovern or Marchbank as the third tall / intercept defender
Williams
Martin. Sorry to those who don’t like him but he is a far bigger weapon than Motlop and Honey at this stage of their career
Pittonet, but for me it’s a 50/50 as TDK has been performing and I’m not a fan of two rucks when we have 3 talls in the forward line and IMO no place for a resting ruck
Owies but also a 50/50 with Honey and Motlop

So that’s 5 and two 50/50s. Let’s call it 6

So Voss has said it's up to JW whether he plays

Find it hard to believe Jacob will say "nah"

I didn't think OMac looked that good when he played the early games and Young has been a rising star this season.

I think Young is a far better mark of the ball. OMAC is strong so is OK against big forwards but he isn't terribly skilled. I see him as back up only . I thought Durdin looked OK in his limited minutes.

OMac is a panic merchant. Lewis has now passed him quiet easily in all skill facets, except some strength and some additional vigor, but he will get there soon enough.

Previously not a good omen but now a reminder to the players of the ranga in the coaching box who will be tearing them a new one if they play soft.

Yep. Or we can pretend we're a team of Matty Cottrells. Either way, I've got a good feeling about the socks!

Okay Weiters I know you have had a busted shoulder but if you feel up to it we can ease you back in over the next 5 to 6 weeks.
So if you can look after King this week , Kennedy the following, then Hawkins , Hogan , Walker and Daniher .

The decision is up to you would you like a day to think about it

Weitering trained today, no strapping on shoulder and looked unhindered.

Was the first off the track though.

Don't let the fact that Charlie Curnow spent all day doing a Carlton Repsects event last week before the Freo game which he dominated get in the way of culture wars.

Don't let the fact that we haven't won with orange gear on yet, make you miss a bit of joking around.

This might be a bit of a test of JW's maturity. I mean I would not want him to make the call himself to play tmrw night if he isn't 100% right. If he is 99.9% right and plays and does the shoulder again then it is on him. There are 7 games to go after this game, then potentially finals. Then there is 2023. He needs to make sure he is not going to re-injure himself. Needs to make sure he sees the long game.

Do we have matchups for all of JW, LY, BK & LP ??
Leaves three runners in Salad, Doc and Newman.
I guess a wing or two can push back.

I remember a game in the 90s. Peter Dean was interviewed pre match as he was out injured. He said it they ultimately left it up to him as to whether or play or not. He said he wanted to play but felt that if he injured himself again in the first 5 min he would've let the team down so elected be extra cautious.
Weiters is a very mature and level headed young man. If it is left up to him, I'm certain he too will make the right the decision by thinking of the team first. If he says he is right to go I trust him. If he isn't, I'm sure he'll say he needs another week.

If Weiters plays I would still put Young on King. King's reach seems to trouble Weiters on occasions and Young has an extra 5cm or so and his spoiling has been top notch in the last few weeks.
