The commentators love fest for jakey stringshot is unbearable. The only reason stringshot couldn't break the tackle (fisher?) is that it was his first game back. If he was cherry ripe he would have done it easy.

Another bt build up, joke of a player.
Thinks he's an enforcer, should have given away at least 5 frees and maybe a report due.
Cannot understand the thought process

Pros:

Finding different ways to win. Outstanding defensive effort. Defensive rebound and ball movement was also very good.
Again came prepared from the outset (like in the Giants' game) against an amped up opposition.
Young and Harry.
Saad, Newman and Newnes.
Fisher has become a quality player.
Owies nailing a couple of set shots.
Super sub Cottrell.
Boyd hardly got near it, but he's an exquisite kick when he does.

Cons:

Beaten out of the centre bounces.
Another early game injury.
Charlie and Harry left a few goals out there.
Stringer taking cheap shots.
Hobbes has got that Essendon** small forward thing going. Likes to play for frees.
Brian Taylor's unhidden lack of excitement about another Carlton strong performance.

What was the crowd size? I was expecting a similar crowd to the pies game but it seemed small

I have to say the atmosphere at the game was pretty flat.

We played a bit cute at times…lots of taps to each other and players trying to sell candy. We seemed like we were cruising along and just not into it. A bit lazy at times.

Good to be bad and still win but gee it was about as exciting as watching paint dry.

We need to be very careful …if those behinds were goals in the 3rd quarter we might have been crying. Voss needs to contain himself, he’s pissed off and it came through in the press conference. I don’t blame him but he’s got to use it productively and not let it spread like a cancer.

It’s hard to believe that 11 games ago Essendon** was playing in a final. It goes to show how things can change quickly.

I was pleased with the win. You don’t go anywhere as a football club without winning games like that. A cold winter night, with key players out, against an amped up opposition. It wasn’t a match you’d tell your grandkids about, but we got the job done when we were expected to. Take the four points and move onto the next challenge.
