I mean we all agree right if we cannot beat these two teams then we are overrated and don't deserve to make the 8.

Not if we beat Melbourne and Geelong instead :)

Geelong came the closest in 2018, finishing 8th on 13 wins, with 4 teams on 12 wins sitting just outside the 8:

Not saying you are wrong but surely you agree this is a fairly unique year?
I said 13 wins all year but this year could even be 14. Might be a bunch of teams on 13.

Maybe, but then the ladder always has a way of working itself out. Like the article I posted from 2018, they were saying the same thing that 13 wins may not be enough and then it turned out that 13 wins was enough.

There is always weird stuff that happens in the back end of the season that causes unexpected upsets. Lower teams getting players back from injury, players playing for their own futures or their coaches futures, higher teams increasing training loads, resting players or being cautious with injury etc. I just find it funny when the media had basically mapped out all teams' fate 4-5 weeks ago based on form at the time. Since then, we have had Melbourne losing 3 on the trot, Essendon* beating St Kilda and Sydney, Richmond and West Coast getting better, Hawthorn dropping off dramatically etc.

As corny as it sounds, a week is a long time in football and there is still lots to play out in the remaining 7 weeks of the home and away season. I have absolutely no doubt that we will cause at least one major upset (Cats, Dees or Lions), but then it also wouldn't surprise me at all if we were to drop one of the "easy" games against WC, Crows or GWS.

Strap yourself in for the ride! :yikes:

If we lose this week and Saints win we'll be out of 8

So an honourable loss to WCE is ok?

St Kilda have an inferior percentage. Hence the winning/losing margins would dictate whether they go ahead of us on the ladder or not.
Just stating facts.

Saints losing tonight means 13 wins is enough.

As long as it was a "brave" 9th.

Same here. There are quite a few upsets happening every week with the low to middle tier teams improving their form.

Still a lot to play out this season.

We'll finish on 17 wins. And then 17 flags!
