Little thing but I can’t remember the last time our largest lead was the final margin, used to us squandering late

Absolute fkn cracker of a win.

Hewett running through the centre in the 3rd & taking an absolute hospital hand pass, getting crunched, & still keeping his feet & disposing well just said it all, to me. We are one tough unit now.

And Doc's goal. He was inside the square when he kicked it, just an awesome moment.

Greene we gifted 2 goals to - one from a shocking turnover & one from a free kick. Apart from that he didn't kill us.

We are just getting it done with what would have been an injury crisis in any other year.

The Game was set up for an easy Giants win.

As the announcements were made during the week the odds against us grew

The Footy World, (outside of The Carlton Believers) wanted to win for Leon:
The Giants players
The commentators
The Reporters
The Umpires
Keogh

But Carlton believed in the new Coach despite:

Travelling Interstate
Playing at a Ground we have never won on.
Playing a Team we have never beaten in Sydney
Not having won on the road this year
Playing against a seasoned Finalist

11 injured players couldn't be considered for the game
8 Best 22 players missing from the team
9 Players selected Under 22yo
Our developing young ruckman 20kg lighter than his opponent
Losing the club's biggest recruit in the first quarter

Knowing the umpires will be against us.

Talk about a win for the Ages.
This win is as big as the 2002 game without Bradley Kouta and SOS
This win is as big as Fevola's huge 8 goal haul vs Effendruggies in 2008
Sure is a Year of Transition.

Top 4 after 9 rounds. 3 games clear of 9th.
Dare to Dream.

Grandstand post if I ever saw one
Having watched it there are things I want to say to balance the post

We won with a lot against us such as injuries playing away and Cameron’s last game
Cripps didn’t dominate
He was cleverly used as a ruckman
Press’s was always going to dominate the hit outs
DeKoning going forward meant we weren’t so shotrt in attack
Kennedy and JOS have become very good players
Durdin and Carroll look the goods. Finally some late draft pick glory somethings SOS had no idea about.
Well done Austin
The average players seem to play better and with belief
Plowman
OBrien

In saying all that our % is poor for 7 and 2
Lose to Sydney and we could be 6 th next week if Sydney beats us

I think after 9 rounds ( not 10 this year) that only Gold Coast The Dogs and Port can replace teams in the 8.
Banking wins early is obviously important but we have the worst % for teams in the top 8.
Western Bulldogs and Port can overtake us % wise
So let’s not get too carried away with the theatre here unlike BB and a few others.

The way it’s turning out we have the best draw.
Richmond go alright
Freo are up there this year
Haven’t played anyone else in the 8.
13 rounds to go
I’m happy with how things are rolling
Just being rational

He was good.
Hopefully he get the rising star nomination this week.

Fox footy gave all the clubs ratings from the weekend games. Gold Coast got A+ but we got A. I mentioned that we are not getting the credit we deserve given all our players being out, and playing interstate against a club that just lost their coach. Everyone saying its not like we beat Melbourne or anything and GWS are a shamble. Unbelievable the footy community are hating on us and show us no respect .......

Melbourne supporters can have Melbourne, as I consider them boring and they will never big a club like Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond and *. Just look at their crowds.

I couldn't really give a toss what David King thinks, or what 'worries' Robbo.

We haven't achieved anything yet, and whenever media/pundits/anyone give credit they are really only doing it so they can say 'well they got ahead of themselves' at the next loss. Predictably dull.

The need to create news has never been greater with stations like SEN needing to get Derek the Dropkick from Dromana on 4 times a day to fill the gaps between their gambling ads.

We played well. We got the win. I'm happy.

Bloody good win particularly because we had to adapt given our outs and that's what we did, we adapted, this more than anything makes me think we have finally started to become a serious team again.

I think it suggests we have a game plan the players have bought into, that balances defense with attack, they can actually execute and incorporates the freedom to play the game they love rather then be autobots.

I really don't want to laugh at your response but you leave yourself so open.

I gave you the definition of Grandstanding, and you obviously don't get it.
Your response using that term is pitched as if meant to be comical, but I know you're trying to make a serious point.
The English language is not your strength, but I get where you are coming from...its an attempt of making a negative comment from a different angle, but saying the same crap.
I admire your attempt to say something positive.....you are " happy the way things are rolling".

I just set the backdrop and theme: Dare To Dream.
I stated facts again: a situational analysis. Nothing irrational.
No Grandstanding, because post is not about me it was clearly about the challenge Carlton was up against.

Pity Carroll didn't have a great game, but I agree he shows something and he's only 19yo.
DeKoning was the main ruck and only went forward for short stints for a few minutes.
He rested on the bench more than playing forward when not rucking.
What else you didn't see on TV is the how we were running in numbers, and overwhelmed the Giants.
We are playing a really good brand of footy, as a team, and the belief and trust in each other is really obvious at ground level.

You do know Richmond are only 3% ahead of us. You know to make up their phenomenal % they beat WCE by 109 pts when Eagles had 17 Best 22 missing? You know we haven't played the winged Eagles?

You know Richmond are in the 8? You know we beat them!

You know IF your uncle had boobs he'd be your aunty?
You know IF Bulldogs and Port were wearing Carlton jumpers, they would be Carlton?
You know we are discussing the Facts, the Now, Reality?
You know we have a better percentage than Dogs and Port?
You know you don't make sense, nor a rational argument?

No one cares if you recognise our win loss ratio, but we all have noticed the football world stand up and take note.

Like us, Freo lost to Gold Coast , and you say they are going well. Do you remember what you said about Carlton losing to GCS? As it stands right now, fact, Carlton 7 wins. Freo 7 wins.

You know Dogs are 5% and 3 games behind us?...and both teams have 13 rounds to play. We need 5 more wins and Dogs need 8 more wins to make Finals. Whose shoes would you rather be in? Dogs or Blues?

You are soooo unbalanced with your views. I call your posts entertainment, but I also feel for you, my Blue Brethren.

We just beat a seasoned Finalist with a free hit at the draft, year after year, and we had 11 out injured, 10 from our best 22 and still won and had 10 more shots at goal.

... and you to finish off, you describe your post post rational...OK....look up the word sanctimonious. Not trying to make disparaging comments, but that word is fitting for you.

I hope you cheered to your audience when you found out the Final score. Did you?

Journo from today's Age Newspaper gave Josh Kelly BOG, interestingly he didn't get one coaches vote...
Suspect he looked at the stats sheet after the game and awarded Kelly BOG based on 36 possessions

I actually thought Kelly was their only functioning midfielder. Greene copped a bit of a lesson, Coniglio was MIA, Ward was so-so and Whitfield was putrid. Preuss, considering his size advantage, was also putrid.

Amazing stats from SB and BV as well. Shows how well the system is going when you can shuffle blokes in and out each week but the structure remains - blokes know where to run, where to kick, when to tempo. It's just so nice to watch. And so foreign.

Well BB
We agree to disagree on many points

In relation to the game generally there are many factors that make for a successful season
In relation to the two most important things iMO that makes you competitive
A midfield that bats deep
Pressure on the ball carrier
Melbourne won a flag without a power forward
The big difference this year has been our midfield
Hewitt and Cerra have added depth and our different mids
Add the emergence of guys like Durdin and you have a better team from last year

But I’m not getting carried away
We don’t play Melbourne and Brisbane till late in the year.
What a blessing
And it highlights the biggest joke in elite sports in this country
Every team plays 5 teams twice

Still things are looking promising
Big game this Friday

Tell me one point I disagree with you?
Its your language and rationale.
You conflict yourself. I can't make sense of it.
Your points are conflicting.

EVERYONE knows Brisbane and Melbourne are the 2 top teams
We can only judge what is before us. We play who we play.
We've beaten teams against the odds.
We've beaten teams who thrashed us last year

NO ONE is expecting us to beat Dees and Lions.
What's the point you're trying to make regards Dees and Lions?
Are you hearing voices?

Our team has changed its coach and Game Plan. On Field Change No. 1
Cerra, Hewett have been magnificent additions, and they are real, and they help win games. On Field Change No 2
Our handballs from the centre bounce have increased by more than 30%: Combo of On Field change 1 and 2.
We've added a 23yo tall in Young to add depth to our backline (before Jones' decision) and we've added Durdin to the team this year after his first full preseason On Field changes
Cripps, Docherty and Charlie have all returned to the team fitter than injury hampered 2021 campaign.

A lot has changed.

No one is getting carried away.
No one has suggested we will win the Flag this year.
It seems to me that notion is a battle between what you think you're hearing/ reading and what you think of the club (not team).
Its not based on anyone getting ahead of themselves.

We are 4th on the ladder means, we are 4th on the ladder.
We have won 7 games this year over 9 rounds and that means what it is.
One more win and we have equaled our wins for the whole 2021 season and beaten every season prior to that going back to 2013.

You think we are getting ahead of ourselves or proud of the improvement shown thus far.
All I see is Carlton fans pinching themselves with such results.
We are getting closer to our first Finals and supporters are seriously happy about that.
You like to single them out calling them delusional because they NATURALLY feel good about the results thus far.

You are trying to be a hero hoping for the losses so you can say "I told you so".
There's something really wrong with that. Its more than just being sanctimonious.

Its not Carlton's fault we don't play Eagle and NM twice to boost our % like it will for other teams.
That's our reality.

Quote:

Pressure on the ball carrier

You mention this as a metric for on field success. Its what we are doing.

Hey De Boer played. I've seen blow flies bigger than him, and so has Cripps.
Credit where credit is due. Cripps was a monster yesterday, but like the rest, was a part of the whole.
We are playing as a team, and you don't want to see that.

At least you do get what the rest of us are seeing and saying:

Quote:
things are looking promising
, but we add the truth and think..."its good to be sitting 4th than 4th last".
