Because they trust him to make a contest and either mark it or bring the ball to ground where we back in our smalls to score or lock the ball in for a stoppage. I though Charlie was huge for the whole game - didn't do a lot of the flashy stuff but he'd have been covered in ice packs after the game.

The Game was set up for an easy Giants win.

As the announcements were made during the week the odds against us grew

The Footy World, (outside of The Carlton Believers) wanted to win for Leon:
The Giants players
The commentators
The Reporters
The Umpires
Keogh

But Carlton believed in the new Coach despite:

Travelling Interstate
Playing at a Ground we have never won on.
Playing a Team we have never beaten in Sydney
Not having won on the road this year
Playing against a seasoned Finalist

11 injured players couldn't be considered for the game
8 Best 22 players missing from the team
9 Players selected Under 22yo
Our developing young ruckman 20kg lighter than his opponent
Losing the club's biggest recruit in the first quarter

Knowing the umpires will be against us.

Talk about a win for the Ages.
This win is as big as the 2002 game without Bradley Kouta and SOS
This win is as big as Fevola's huge 8 goal haul vs Effendruggies in 2008
Sure is a Year of Transition.

Top 4 after 9 rounds. 3 games clear of 9th.
Dare to Dream.

Grandstand post if I ever saw one
Having watched it there are things I want to say to balance the post

We won with a lot against us such as injuries playing away and Cameron’s last game
Cripps didn’t dominate
He was cleverly used as a ruckman
Press’s was always going to dominate the hit outs
DeKoning going forward meant we weren’t so shotrt in attack
Kennedy and JOS have become very good players
Durdin and Carroll look the goods. Finally some late draft pick glory somethings SOS had no idea about.
Well done Austin
The average players seem to play better and with belief
Plowman
OBrien

In saying all that our % is poor for 7 and 2
Lose to Sydney and we could be 6 th next week if Sydney beats us

I think after 9 rounds ( not 10 this year) that only Gold Coast The Dogs and Port can replace teams in the 8.
Banking wins early is obviously important but we have the worst % for teams in the top 8.
Western Bulldogs and Port can overtake us % wise
So let’s not get too carried away with the theatre here unlike BB and a few others.

The way it’s turning out we have the best draw.
Richmond go alright
Freo are up there this year
Haven’t played anyone else in the 8.
13 rounds to go
I’m happy with how things are rolling
Just being rational

We’ve played and beaten Bulldogs and Port who were grand finalists and preliminary finalists respectively last year, and as you say can still make the 8 and probably will. It may well be that we’ve played 4 of the final top 8.

Also there are only 7 other teams inside the 8, 10 outside it.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch :)

its our game plan.. to bring the ball to ground for our smalls to impact. either scoring or forcing a stoppage.

I still prefer to see Fev on a 40 meter lead at speed and getting hit lace out, but...

I have faith Voss has a plan

Go Blues

A great win ........ I'm starting to believe (rather than just hoping) that we're the real deal.

Great game yesterday, good mature win with the odds against us.

Sam Walsh stood up and reminded us all how good his good is.
JSOS was awesome and it's good to see the rest of the world now see what we see in him.
Durdin put the icing on the cake.
Kemp did a lot better than I thought and I really liked his game.
Motlop was great to see but not really ready for the level yet, if he plays this week hopefully he doesn't look as lost.
Our midfield was great and we always look better with Hewett in the guts.
TDK and Cripps played good roles on Preuss and that mark from TDK.
O'Brien was solid and is getting better, 672m gained. WOW
Plowman needs to stay in the side.
Even Cottrell had a good crack yesterday too.

The only downside was Williams injury.

Go Blues, Swans next....

Ditto, he looked knackered by the end of the game and his last shot at goal was a tired one. What I loved about his game was that he didn’t give up trying the entire match and was finally rewarded with one two goals.

At the end of last year, I had no doubt in my mind that LOB would not, could not make it. I did however think that Dow showed promise and was worth persevering with. Completely wrong!

Also, great to see how much Durdin has improved since his North days… ;-)

My wife thinks he and his after game reporting is hilarious.
A loose cannon being allowed to have a microphone and a platform to let the world in to his madness, is the perfect recipe for unpredictable entertainment and colossal F ups.
Surely that's all they can be paying for.

I guess it pays to be loose in the head.
Anyone got a mic.
