Kemp criticism is a bit unfair. A lot of players play better in the seniors than VFL. For many reasons. By all accounts he did well as a forward over summer so we may be pleasantly surprised if he plays on Sunday.

Apparently no love for Dow especially when it is the midfield that will probably decide the game. It usually does against GWS.

Dow instead of Kemp with Cripps and Kennedy resting forward.

Mids galore and we finally see Dow at AFL level.

Good news is Hewett trained yesterday, and completed the whole session.

He has to complete this Friday's session before they fly to Sydney the next day.

If he pulls up well on Saturday, I'm expecting he will play against the GWS.

Yes and midfield is our one iron so it'll be good to have the full roster of mids on deck.

If they all play and TDK rocks then maybe we thrive in the middle and this might allow Cripps to drift forward more than usual.

Cripps. Kemp. Kennedy. Silvagni. Curnow. That's 5 marking options.

Tom Green was one of the Giants' best, recording game-highs for contested possessions (16), clearances (8) and tackles (9) playing the inside bull midfield role.

I expect Cripps and Greene to go head to head

Green 191 and Tim Taranto 188 rotate between the midfield and forward line.

A bigger bodied defender needs to look after these guys, hence Plowman. Plowman for the 3rd tall, not Toby Green. Otherwise the next tallest is Newman 186.

Doch, Saad, Williams, Boyd and Stocker are a different height and weight division.

Weitering 196 vs FF, Jesse Hogan 195

Young 202 vs CHF Himmelberg 194

I am less worried about

I'm more focussed on us

Win the midfield

Their ball movement to the forwards is terrible

The key will be winning the midfield battle and being strong defensively against the transition

Basically the same things as every week

Keep it BAU

The only diff is Kemp and Kenmedy replace Harry.

That's how I look at it

I'm pretty cool with Charlie doing whatever he and the brains trust decide.
There are a few others I'd be more concerned about putting the blowtorch on.

I really think we can and should win this.

Just an idea, bring Kemp in and play him in defence. Move Lewis forward to ride shotgun for Charlie. Might even clunk a few.
Whatever we do it'll be a gamble, but fortune favours the brave.
Might even work. :smoking:

Cats were smashed in the ruck by GWS last week

Preuss / Flynn vs Blicavs 49-25

Clearances were pretty even

It was the uncontested possessions Cats dominated by 70+ which is normal for them.
The corralled the GWS onto one side of the ground forcing GWS to kick long down the line.

Our mids should beat GWS convincingly this year.

Cripps Kennedy Hewett Walsh Cerra

vs

Green Ward Taranto Kelly Perriman

Put 210 to FF is he good enough to draw a few frees?

No doubt Young can mark it but again I just prefer to not make many changes

Don't affect other parts of the ground where we have strengths

Just replace Harry with someone or some bodies

GWS are a tall backline even with captain Phil Davis out.
Our talls are mobile as is Taylor and Haynes.

FB Taylor 196 vs Kemp 194
CHB Keefe 204 vs Curnow 194
BP Haynes 193 vs Silvagni 194

Cumming 188 to take Matt Kennedy/ Carroll

The other GWS backs Kennedy and Hamilton are 184 vs Fisher Durdin Owies

We have to find a way to kick goals....can see dirty ball being our friend against their talls.

Looking at the match ups, its a good option I'm sure the MC will consider.

In that case Kemp goes to Himmelberg, who is a smart player.

Young would be taken by Keefe both above 200cm

Mirkov? He's not a dangerous mark. He's no Casboult.

I would love to see Voss pick him just to see the plan and learn more about Vossy and Mirkov.

Have you seen Mirkov chase? He doesn't.

If he doesn't get the free as a forward, he wont mark, wont win ground ball, and wont catch running defenders.

Only thing I could seee him do is give DeKoning the chop out to give DeKoning some time as a FF ... and he hasn't proved to be too dangerous there either.

Interesting.

Wow, so much Negative, Poor Fella Me sentiment in this thread. (As if nothing bad happens to other teams)

Thankfully our Team & Coaches won't have this attitude.

This game is a good test of how far the team has come this year. Good teams overcome issues such as facing us this weekend.

I'm backing Voss & the Team to overcome the problems we face and Prevail against GWS.

I'm seeing it the same. Now that the initial disappointment over Harry is done, just really looking forward to seeing how Voss innovates & adapts over the next 6 weeks.

GWS Bombers Pies are very gettable Harry or no Harry.

Yeah I just as much assume he can't run and chase well

Wet and greasy conditions in Sydney this weekend.

Might be good to go smaller and more mobile in the forward line.

If Mirkov plays he needs to spend all his time on the ground rucking to get best value out of him. Forget about him as a forward at this stage of his career. But even as a full time ruck, TDK is a better option.

Agree, Kemp is the logical choice, needs to bring the ball to ground and compete.
