Who’s being defeatist? I’m pointing out facts - NM have beaten us 5 out of the last 6 occasions, by an average of 8 goals. They are statistically better at clearances than us this season and have a major advantage in the ruck. They will see this a winnable game.

“We will win easy because they are shit” doesn’t fly with me.

We may win, we may not, but what it won’t be is easy.

I guess we’ll find out tonight how much we have genuinely improved this year….

No Cunnington, no chance.

He has set the scene every win they have against us, Goldstein just laid it on a platter for him.

I don't think it's defeatist to say that it'll be a tough game, maybe even that we're underdogs, and that we'd be thrilled by any win. Defeatism would be saying we're definitely going to lose so why bother even watching. I also think you're just setting yourself for disappointment by saying anything less than a thrashing isn't good enough - the parameters for enjoyment are narrowed considerably, and ultimately isn't football meant to be enjoyed?

Not when you barrack for Carlton in the 2000s

With our list falling to pieces yet again, I'll be grateful for any win. But North are favourites IMO.... if I was a gambler I'd be all over the current odds.

You've done it now :hitcomputer:

If it was my decision I would play Mirkov in the afternoon game at Ikon then get him straight over to Marvel as the sub. The single biggest weakness and exposure we have tonight is in the ruck. If anything happened to TDK we'd be screwed.

I haven't followed North closely this year but I heard one of their callers on the radio yesterday say Goldy has actually been out of form. And was probably in line to be dropped if Xerri hadn't got injured

Don’t worry, we’ll fix that.

Anyone in the eastern suburbs planning on going by train - there are train line works and the Belgrave/Lilydale/Glen Waverley lines all have bus replacements to some degree.

If you go by a team’s performance against an opponent for the last 5 or 6 times they met, rather than where they are on the ladder (especially after only 7 rounds), you could not tip Carlton this week with any confidence whatsoever.

I'm not confident with this game.

NM are a good midfield, and will get good service from Goldstein.

We have Hewett missing and he's been our lnk man for the midfield group.

How smart is little Hirst?

Undersized and uses his body well against a taller opponent in box position to mark ball.
Want to see more of this from Durdin and Owies

Williamson playing well too.

Gets himself in a lot of trouble but is strong enough to find a handball to a team mate at this level

I get the nervousness I’m a bit concerned myself BUT really just be professional for once in your life and win
Play 4 quarters for a change and you will beat them

Get a good start and play a third quarter for a change

This side has terrorised us for years even when they were ordinary -surely we should make them pay

Fogarty is a good VFL player.

He misses targets but the game is more forgiving at VFL level

Just as I mentioned this, Fogarty had so much space, fluffed a bounce (skill error) and NM have their first shot at goal this quarter for a GOAL.

Thanks Fog.

If Dow wasn't so lazy chasing or attacking opponents with the ball, he'd be an assett

31 point lead at half time.

Blues 5.5 to 1.1 that quarter.

Kemp has been involved, playing extra man/ loose man in defence ... easy possessions.
Doesn't look too quick....ie a bit slow. Looked quicker in the TAC level. Maybe the knee injury slowed him down???
