R1 Freo beat Adelaide in Adelaide by 1 point

11.17.83 to 12.10.82

A bit like us scored 57 in the first half and had a comfortable 25 point lead.

Adelaide hit the front in the 3rd quarter and it was only right at the death Freo got the lead and a miraculous defensive spoil saved them.

They scored 65 of their 83 from intercepts/turnovers.

R2 - Freo lost at home to St Kilda 8.7.55 to 9.11.65 and criticism was ringing pretty loudly locally.

Like R1 they controlled the game for the first half (up 31-19 at half time) and got overrun in the 3rd and last.

St Kilda have now proven to be a good side.

R3 - Freo beat a 5th string Eagles side at home 15.12.102 to 7.5.47

Only truly gained ascendancy in the second half and again it was driven off turnover and rebound outscoring the eagles 73-9 off turnovers/intercepts

R4 - Freo comfy at home for the 3rd straight week beat an average Giants side 13.10.88 to 8.6.54

Was an arm wrestle all game with dockers only leading by 2 at 3 quarter time and running away with it late in the last

Had 24 more free kicks than the giants

R5 - Freo beat a woeful bombers team 16.11.107 to 8.11.59 off the back of a 10 goal run from midway in the 3rd quarter, game was even up until then.

70 points off turnovers and smashed the bombers in clearances 43-29.

That is not all that impressive, when we are on we are much stronger, especially at clearances and i cant see how they stop our key forwards if we get the ball in there enough.

As i said earlier though they have been moving the ball well and scoring heavily off turnover and we know we are very weak on transition defence so this is a huge threat.

A very winnable game.

I also think this is winnable, but we'll probably get Eleni and Nathan umpiring.

Agree - their last 3 wins are been against weak opposition as you pointed out.
If Cripps plays I wonder who goes out of the side? It doesn't sound like anyone from the VFL will be promoted based on today's performance.

This mob have been our bunnies even when we were going terrible.

We’ve always had their tall forwards well covered though.

So no injuries in our firsts or seconds today?

One change. Cripps in and Cottrell out.

If there is going to be a second on today's performance we need a mid who will run both ways.

I think the change will be Cripps for Dow, with Newnes the sub.

If We couldn't beat the Suns on the Road, what makes you think we can beat the Dockers at their Ground?

We have some serious issues down back and our midfielders not running hard enough to defend....

Even if we Win all of the Centre bounces, Freo will still beat us easily from their half-back....They got some unknown names who are decent players. Our 2nd Tier players are so awful and not AFL Standards.....

Final Verdict: Freo by 40 points Unless Vossy comes up with a new plan to turn this game into a Rugby Scrum and stop their run, then we are with a chance...Can't see it happen.. Today's collapse will carry on into next Week!

Maybe it’s still the anger of the 2nd half, but I can’t see us winning this one.

I think similar sized loss to the GC game, Freo by 6 goals.

We have a much better record in WA than on the GC.

My heart simply won’t cope with that! I’ll need to be revived in the stands  :yikes:

Can’t believe the dislike towards Setters. I assume the same individuals were wanting Fisher and/or Martin gone last week.

IN: Cripps

OUT: (one of) Setterfield, Cottrell, Newnes

The seconds play Werribee on Saturday afternoon, so at least one player is going to travel with the side and not play any footy this weekend. I'd actually send Dow back to the seconds to get a game and take the squad we played against Port, plus Cripps, west and see how it all shakes out.
