Didn't realise Marchbank was out with a knee injury again, when did this happen? I won the Closest to the Pin prize last year with zero (yay me, so proud), but things seem rosier for CFC these days so I'm going to put my fake money on four senior appearances for Marchbank this season.

If memory serves he returned from his previous injury (back?) in April last year & did his ACL in his first or second game back

He didn't play a senior game last season, guess he got injured in the ressies. Didn't realise he was still recovering from that prang. Last senior game in 2019 :(.

I guess I think of the ACL being more of a 9-month injury, as that seems to be the norm in soccer... but yeah, does seem to be more like 12 months in Aussie Rules. Guess we'll see... Charlie made it back, fingers crossed for Caleb.

Ed Curnow (knee)

The midfielder sustained a medial ligament injury from a tackle in the VFL practice match win over Richmond. No surgery is required, but he is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks.

Sam Philp (ribs)

Philp sustained a rib injury from a tackle in the VFL practice match win over Richmond. He currently has rib soreness and - at this stage - is expected to be unavailable for the next fortnight, but will continue to be assessed.

Jack Carroll (knee)

Carroll sustained a knock to his knee in the VFL practice match win over Richmond and had some bone bruising. It’s expected to settle but he will miss the next 1-2 weeks.

Liam Stocker (ankle)

Stocker is currently in a reconditioning phase: he will miss this week and is expected to be available next week.

Domanic Akuei (groin)

Will return in the VFL this week.

Josh Honey (knee)

Honey has returned to full training and is progressing well. He needs a solid training block over the next three weeks, with his availability to play to be assessed after that.

Caleb Marchbank (knee)

Marchbank has returned to the skills program: he needs a good block of skills conditioning before his return to play. That training block will be his focus for the next month, with his timeline to return to play to be assessed after that.

David Cuningham (knee)

Cuningham is currently in a performance conditioning block prior to his return to skills training. When he has completed the required workload over the coming month, he will look to integrate back into the skills program.

Bit of a mixed bag that list. Great to see no Walsh not on the list and can't wait to see the champ line up tomorrow night.
The Ed injury is a bit disappointing. I know not everyone is an Ed fan here, but I love him. Having said that, Hewett is shaping as a younger and better model. Ed on the wrong side of 30 now. Am sure if he gets over his injuries, he'll still play some sort of role.
Rapt that Stock will be back next week. Likely need a couple of games in VFL but can't wait to see him back in action.
Carrol and Philp both on the verge of senior selection and if nothing else, keeping the pressure up on those in the side. Unfortunate for them to get injured now but thankfully neither are long term.
Honey getting closer and fingers crossed Marchy and DC not far behind him.

Gee, if we avoid any further injuries, rnd 7 is gonna be a selection nightmare!

Not so much if we're 6-0

McDonald out this week.

Interestingly Philp is a test to play. I thought they initially said it'd be 4 weeks?

Test just for vfl though.

McDonald and McGovern can't seem to stay on the park. Both have plenty of ability, but you would have to wonder if they shouldn't be let go when their contracts are up. Especially considering the fortune Mitch is on, not much return on investment there.

Maybe we’ll have Jones back by next season, he was pretty durable.

Govs hammies can't handle the pace of AFL...imo.

I can't believe he's done it again.

Oh well ... have to wait for Marchbank, another injury prone player, and hope his injuries are behind him. But Marchy's not due back before half way mark.

Oscar may be back next week, and Young may have a great game vs Hawks, and slip into the interceptors role like a glove. This IS the role Young's been earmarked for....or at least was.

We need to pick up a key back in the mid season draft. It's our one glaring deficiency.
Perhaps put JGM back into defence in the VFL instead of playing him ruck/forward and see if he's worthy of another opportunity.

He's the obvious one, right under our nose.

We can shape him. IMO he needs to be drilled for the KP role in the seniors, and he may be that swingman type Oscar became starting as a ruck forward in last year's preseason when Charlie, Gov and TDK was out injured.
