Good call I reckon. Monitor the state leagues over the next few months and hopefully land the best available key defender in the mid season draft.

Totally agree

We are not desperate.

Its time for best available for list needs...or should I say...for flag needs

Awkward… :yikes:

Can't we draft him in a couple of weeks though?

SHOCK HORROR

To all those posters who believe Carlton has blown its salary cap, because they preferred to believe Industry Sources (aka Carlton haters) and chose not to believe the club publicly stating, the use of front ended Contracts to new players, from the commonly known "War Chest" saved by Silvagni well.......

Quote:
Carlton will have space in their salary cap to add more elite talent to their list via free agency and trades at year’s end as they contend for a top-four spot under new coach Michael Voss.

The Blues are among a list of clubs showing preliminary interest in Port Adelaide free agent Karl Amon, assessing the competition as they consider bringing another running midfielder into the group.

They have retained enough flexibility to be active in this years Free Agency and Trade periods

There was a good reason why SOS wanted other clubs to know he was only spending 95% of the Cap and banking, then spending the War Chest before its expiry date, or lose it, then repeating the methodology using the scheme of paying front ended or top up payments to make the 95% and saving a War Chest for another shot.

Rinse and Repeat. SOS sorted out our payments.

We are a Destination Club!!!

Cuningham to be resigned too.

Things can only get better for those who remain on the List and those who join the club in 2023.

With a bit of luck Carlton might do a Dogs circa 2016, or Tigers circa 2017, or Hawks circa 2008, and win a Flag this year, against the odds, and 2023 will be our back to back :sly:

Why not target 2 wingmen Amos and Brayshaw who are both free agents come year's end. Problem solved.

i dont know why we would continue to sign Cunningham to be honest. We are signing him on potential. Cant stay on the park. If its at the expense of say Cottrell or Honey etc, I would be pissed.

We need to move past players that are so injury prone. I think we have better players than Cunningham now.

Did there used to be a playing list with contract status included in previous versions of this topic?
Or does it reside elsewhere?

We used to have a contract tracker thread, but it doesn't appear to have been updated for some time

We need talls. Is there a good enough mature KPD we can pick up in the mid season draft? A Mihocek type?

I've seen Wade Derksen's name mentioned in a few dispatches here and there, he's currently playing WAFL for Peel Thunder. Has been added to the list of eligible players for the MSD which would suggest a club or two might be interested, though I have no idea if we're one of them.

Some list managers have also mentioned WAFL key position player Wade Derksen.

Derksen, who hails from Darwin, is said to have grown 12cm inside the last two years and has won admirers for his start to the season at Peel Thunder.

The 20-year-old is listed on the WAFL website as 195cm and 90kg. He had spent two seasons on Essendon*’s VFL list but only managed one game due to Covid cancellations.
