Whilst I do rate Grundy highly, not sure what we have in terms of a trade.
Don't really want to trade out our first pick for the 3rd year in a row and they'd want more than that anyway.
In terms of players, they'd probably want a key forward so would ask for either H or Charlie. Or TDK and something else.
After waiting for Charlie for 3 years to get over his injuries, not that keen on giving him away. As frustrating and disappointing as H has been past 6 or so weeks, feel he is very important to our structure so would like to keep him too.
Can't see us doing a trade here so move onto someone gettable.

I don't feel we need another ruck either.
We should be throwing our hat in the ring for Dunkley if we are going to trade any picks.

Why trade first round picks for another plodding midfielder - which we have plenty of. Not that he isn't a good player just the type we do not need. If they can't run 20meters in under 2.9 seconds then they shouldn't be looked at!

The one thing in life that is constant is change.
That’s why you don’t sign anyone on a 5 or more year deal
Even 4.
Things can change very quickly
Darcy Cameron is 6 years into his AFL career.
He has gone past Grundy.
Hard to think that 2 years ago. But it can happen.
By the way pick 48 2016 draft.
Interesting what we do with our first round pick which will be around 12.
Why pick Dunkley.
I agree with the previous poster
What’s the bet the club uses it’s first 2 picks
( say pick 12 and 30) to get another big fish that disappoints

As I said before look at how successful teams go about recruiting

We are better this year. Just hope we haven’t peaked.
And don’t forget no third rounder due to Cerra deal

The new 6-6-6 rule has made the game a clearance game IMO.
It has brought back the need for key forwards as well.
Our midfield has a little depth but still needs a lot more as we have seen.
Another inside mid that can tag and tackle as well as win the ball will slot in perfectly with Voss game style.
Dunkley is only 25 and in his prime and if he can make us play like we did in the first half of the year all year, what's 2 picks.
We are at the stage of injecting in A grade players for specific roles and that is what the successful teams have all done prior to being successful.
It's all about game plan and structure, then getting the pieces to make it happen.
I feel Dunkley could be that missing piece in the middle.

And aren't we possibly getting a 3rd rounder for Jones?

If they go last touch out bounds which is looking more likely the work load on clearances will diminish quite a bit.
It will also reduce the load on the ruckman and increase the need for speed.

Making list management calls is often hit or miss on AFL makey uppey rules on the run

Elsewhere, a trio of Carlton players are also set for new contracts.

“Riley Beveridge reports that Carlton trio Matt Owies, Matt Cottrell and Jordan Boyd are all set for fresh two-year extensions as well,” Twomey said.

“All three of those have been pretty important for the Blues and they’re all keen to stay.”

Blues quintet Lochie O'Brien, Caleb Marchbank, Liam Stocker, Will Setterfield and David Cuningham all remain unsigned beyond 2022.

If I’m Liam Stocker, I’m looking for a new role - or a new job.

The mix of medium and small defenders is going against him. Docherty, Williams, Saad are in. After that, you’ve got to pick some size and defensive speed.

If he’s not in consideration for one of the two inside mid spots, he has to put his hand up as a forward.

Liam needs to improve his attitude and fitness first before asking for anything

Farmer you have twice referenced Stocker's attitude now.

What is the problem with it? I know he had a tough year during covid hubs but what's the hit on him now?

He'll be the fourth missing piece in the middle - after Hewitt, Cerra and Kennedy. Cripps himself is a former missing piece. For the next two rounds he'll be a real missing piece.

I wish a few of our missing pieces could run out of sight on a dark night.

Has an attitude problem. Has all along. Club and teammates have tried hard to help him. Very individual and has a large number of players off side. Also, no where near as fit as he should be especially around fat content

Interesting.
I remember when he kicked his first goal barely anyone went up to him which we all thought was weird.
