LTI for Pitto?
Ed with a career ending calf?
Jones retiring to avoid the jab?

Could Kreuzer make a comeback in mid season draft?

Simmo on a wing?

KPD somewhere?

We’re down for one pick in the mid season draft.

Ed might make space for a second, but they’ll want to give Pitto every chance of returning if there’s even a whiff of finals.

Is he still playing somewhere? If so, not a bad left-field suggestion.

With COVID restrictions easing could Jones come back?

BLUES MIDFIELDER TO SEEK MULTI-YEAR DEAL

CARLTON has started initial chats over a contract extension for Matt Kennedy.

The Blues midfielder is a free agent at season's end, having been delisted and re-drafted as a rookie at the end of the 2020 campaign, but has established himself as an important member of the side's midfield under new coach Michael Voss.

It's expected his enhanced reputation and his status as a free agent will likely mean Kennedy will seek a multi-year deal to tie him to the Blues for the foreseeable future, having signed short-term contracts for the last two seasons.

Kennedy won 30 or more disposals in each of the Blues' first three games this season, while he also averaged six clearances per game in that stretch, forming an exciting partnership with captain Patrick Cripps and new recruits Adam Cerra and George Hewett.

The 25-year-old dealt with soreness last week and missed the side's trip to Western Australia to face Fremantle, but is expected to recover in time for Saturday night's fixture with North Melbourne.

Kennedy, a graduate of the Giants Academy, was traded to Carlton for pick No.28 at the end of the 2017 season. But he played just 42 games in his first four years with the Blues, struggling to establish himself under both Brendon Bolton and David Teague.

He spent the 2021 season on the club's rookie list, courtesy of a one-year deal, before signing another one-year contract extension for this season after being elevated back onto its primary list. – Riley Beveridge

Clearly deserves a multi year deal. I don't think he'll be greedy or unrealistic in terms of price so expect it to get it sorted pretty stress free.

Would think 2 or 3 years would be the discussion.

I think so too.
He is now a favourite of mine.
He is a good friends with Walsh so you imagine he would be pretty keen to stay at the club and not look elsewhere.

George has made a real mess of the pay scale. Astute shopping from the club - on the eve of a new CBA as well.

Similar terms for Kennedy, I would think.

Carlton has signed midfielder and free agent Matt Kennedy to a three-year deal.

A well deserved reward for his career-best start to the season. @AFLcomau

Deserved reward for his persistence and the hard work he has done - and for the results out on the field

Great news Effes

Derserved.

I was wrong about this guy, and am glad to be too.
I hope he just gets better in his prime years, and a body conditioned for the rigors of AFL footy.

More importantly he an important part of a group of A & B grade mids, predominantly A, meaning rather than playing injured, he can recover on the sidelines knowing there's a bank of cover for his, or any other mids absence, as we have experienced this year, with every first choice mid missing at least one game.

The Fab 5 (Cripps, Walsh, Hewett, Cerra, Kennedy) with support from Carroll, Fisher with Dow and Setterfield as back up, and one day chop outs from Durdin, Motlop & Owies

If Stocker and Boyd step up, players like Williams and Docherty could run through the midfield too, giving us plenty of petrol tickets to play 4 quarter footy in a GF.

Yup quality inside midfielder & impactful HF, good overhead , has a beautiful kicking action long & penetrating to advantage.
Matt stays on the park too which is important, not easily bushed off the ball, astute pick up, By Silvagni.

We will judge Silvagni in 20 years time.
He cut deep, deeper than ever before in modern times.
He had a lot of first round picks over a 5 years.
2016-2020. He only parted 1 draft back.
His legacy will be remembered favourably in 20 years if he selected the type of character we needed to build a strong winning culture: sustainable being key.

Kennedy just re signed with Carlton for 3 years.
The words loyal, devoted, honest, committed, patient, persistent, powerful, come to mind describing Kennedy. We all know about his marking, kicking and scoring.

If Kennedy's an indication of the character SOS has built a list with, then SOS may have done the job to build a great list.
No doubt Austin's picks are going to have some say too, but that's another story

Lists, to win silverware, are a rarity.
Good to lock in Kennedy in this rare form.

Have a look at the midfield group we have to look forward to over the nest 5-10 years:

Rucks: Pittonet 25 DeKoning 23 Mirkov 23

Midielders: Cripps 27, Walsh 21, Cerra 23, Kennedy 25, Hewett 26, ... Carroll 20 Fisher 24, Kemp 20, Stocker 22 ... Dow 23, Cuningham 25, Philp 21, Honey 21, Motlop 19

We need to compete in all positions.

We need to improve our Wings.

Yeah we need ruck and KPD back up given injuries, but all fit and the list looks balanced. We are coping well with injuries.

We can get what we need with 5 new players made up of Mid season Draft, and next Draft, Trade, FA.

Happy Days.

If Marchbank stays fit and healthy, where do people see him? Wing? Running back? Key back? Intercepting back? Other?
