no to anyone over 25 yrs of age ,first draft selection has to be Defender 191cm marking quick HBF (no trust in plowman and Gov body ???) 2nd selection 185cm winger quick also ,no more slow soft players opposite of dow setters,Lob ,just have a look at swans or hawks youngsters tough great recruiting

Williamson will be off the list too by year's end imo, and Settefield has played HBF in the past but feel those days are over.

Re Over 25yo recruits:

Depends on our Premiership window.

If that happens to be now, we are in trouble if Pittonet doesn't regain his early season form when he returns, and if TDK gets injured too.......

Still , Cazz ' s point is a good one coz we are paper thin in our ruck area . I would be happy with someone like Sinclair but i would be delighted with Goldy coz he is a class act .

I’d much rather throw Mirkov into the seniors next year than bring someone like Goldstein in, he will only take games away from TDK, Pittonet and Mirkov. I still have nightmares about Jacobs leaving for pittance because he was blocked by Warnock, Kruezer and the other guy I can’t remember right now.

That’s right, Megan’s partner.

Port won the clearances last night, centre and around the ground, with finlayson in the ruck.

Happy to forge ahead with pitto, tdk and mirkov developing.

I'd be happier with someone who is primarily a forward, but capable of filling in ruck.
Even a Mason Cox could do a role with minimal cost (perhaps DFA) while being happy for the career lifeline.

I reckon he's about at the level we need as backup.
IE someone at the upper end of the VFL plodder scale.

A reliable poster on BF says we are interested in Dan McStay and have approached his management.
I think he is a free agent.

McStay will want heaps of money, as many clubs would be after him.

We need to be careful as we need to sign Curnow and McKay.

I would feel more comfortable if we looked after them first before next year so we know what money we have.

If we traded out McGovern maybe, but not sure anyone would want him now.

I can’t see us buying any bigs at that end of the market, not when we can draft for development.

If we do have that sort of cash to splash, I’d say the grapevine is on the money and we’re in the market for outside runners.

Ten players are on rookie contracts:

Boyd… 2nd year
Cottrell… 4th
McDonald… 2nd
O’Brien… 1st (5th total)
Owies… 4th
Parks… 2nd
>> Akuei, Durdin, Hayes & Mirkov are contracted for at least next year.

Putting my list manager hat on, I’d offer Boyd and O’Brien another year and probably upgrade both Owies and Cottrell. The rest can be turned over.

Pretty sure four years is the max, so the two upgrades are forced changes. Similarly, the two supplementary additions will lose that status next season.

Cat A:
Boyd
Durdin
Hayes
Mirkov
O’Brien

Cat B:
Akuei

One, maybe two spots.

Honey
Marchbank
Newnes
Setterfield
Stocker
Williamson

We need talls and transition runners, so some of these are going to have to be let go.

Marchbank & Stocker are part of our premiership mix, so they’re safe.
For what he’s asked to bring, we’re not going to find better than Newnes on the open market. Also safe.
Honey was only promoted to the main list this season, so he’s probably safe as well.

Huge couple of months coming up for the rest.

I'm sure he comes out of contract come season's end....and I don't want to entertain the discussion

Still believe we will make 6-8 changes. Voss will have assess some players as to whether he see's them as the future

Even if we keep McDonald & S.Durdin we need another tall defender
Need a mature Ruckman for a year or so. Goldstein or Sinclair are options
Another Key Forward or Forward/Ruck would be very handy

Then I believe we just need to add best talent through draft.

I have hope that Motlop Young Cerra Mirkov TDK will really step up in 2023 and I am very happy with development of Boyd, O'Brien, Cottrell, Durdin this year but we need more

Unfortunately, I don’t think we can keep Macdonald. Just broken. Parks is next to go for mine. He isn’t KP and has shown little unfortunately. I think we’ll keep SDurdin, shows enough for a rookie spot and ofcourse Marchbank stays. We need one more, as long as we believe Akuei can and is developing.

That leaves us with Weitering, Young, Marchbank, Durdin, Akuei and one draft / trade, plus 3rd talls, McGovern and Plowman. Surely our injuries next year in this area will be better.
