I don’t think our midfield runs as deep as many think it does.

An outside midfielder, a medium forward, a tall defender and an inside midfielder are our needs IMO, but I hope we go with the ‘best available’ (no matter the type) - especially with our first pick. Get the talent in the door.

Austin went with a wing with high endurance: runs both ways.

Could have picked a best available tall like Busslinger, who would take a couple years at least.

Welcome aboard Elijah.

what do you think of our ruck stocks?

i think we now need to focus on a ruck and another tall defender

I think our three specialist ruckman all need TOG - so recruiting another one might be counterproductive. I agree that we could do with a developing key defender. In fact, I thought we might have been tempted to go for Busslinger last night. Is there any hope that Lewis Hayes might still be available at our 2nd round pick?

I’ve been behind Hayes for most of the season, but there’s always been something in my gut telling me that Van Es is going to be something special.

Maybe it’s just that gun barrel straight mullet, perched atop the extra massive rig… it’s a big, big man with deadly closing speed and the strength & reach that could affect a spoil on Jezza’s statue.

He’s ready for senior footy 12 months ago. Also, until the Cadman show moved to CHF, Van Es was the Rebels primary forward target and pinch hit in the ruck - so he’s a genuine three-zone utility.

Now, by his own admission, he needs to build up his endurance… but he only needs to do the work to turn that around. Extra sessions on the pedals with Kreuzer, easy peasy.

It’s definitely the hair……

Van Es is 197 cm and 99kg. For 20mtr sprint, 2.91seconds.

Height, bulk, and speed. What is not to like. Especially speed for a big man.

Wow, O'Brien has been put on notice. With Acres, Hollands and Binns coming onto the list. Clearly the club has prioritised big, big time our outside run.

Cowan IMO is a combo of McKay and Christou.

LOB gets a two year extension and we bring in Acres, Hollands & Binns. Anyone else feel like we’ve maybe over-corrected on the outside mids?

I'm assuming with 4 ND picks, Ed's a Rookie now. Does that leave us with room for any more Rookies or DFA's?

For mine, Cowan will beat them all to the job.

He’s got the weapon to make Saad’s woof look like a yip.

Well surely we gotta find a good 'un purely on weight of numbers . But yeah" Sue " , i would have liked to pick up a Key Defender for sure . Maybe they have someone in mind for a rookie spot .
