Interesting to see how the AFL compensates us.

Jones must be worth a round 2 selection. For any other team.

For us ?

Lewis Young surely or Oscar

Yeah, I keep forgetting Oscar.

I think of him more as a forward after his cameos and lucky goals.

He played as a KPD with the Demons and got delisted, so I hope he's improved in that area.

Like Young, he needs to do some work on his upper body strength to stand up the the KPFs one on one.

Sad news for the club.
He obviously felt strongly about it.
Going to hard to replace him.

Lewis Young looks like obvious replacement. McGovern may be an option and McDonald. We need another tall for depth.

Can't respect the decision, not in any way at all.

Awful legacy to leave on.

Disappointing but can’t do much about it as a club, just unlucky really
One of Young, McGovern or O will need to step in at CHB next to Weitering
Maybe tinker with the backline structure a bit and make sure we play a looser third tall who can intercept or come across third man up like Kemp or Marchbank (if fit)

You'd have the same issue re Jones if you're considering reversing decision on Levi.

Bulldogs refused to play Jordan Roughead as anything other than the back up ruck. I hope the same applies re: Young.

I think it's reasonable to suggest you play it week by week based on match ups. Gov as the second tall, Young if matchups dictate someone taller or if we need him as the second ruck in absence of Pitto or TDK.

OMac also makes sense but think he showed plenty up forward and could be worth persisting with there. Think he opened up space on the forward 50 with his leading patterns really well and gave McKay a lot of support.

Quite disappointed actually ...... one day he'll regret it but life (football) goes on

What's Lachie Henderson doing nowadays?

yes. a good pre-season and he would have been very valuable in hindsight. surely the club was aware of player vaccination status and attitudes towards vaccination at the time they let Levi go? had the best clunking hands in the business just a couple of years ago. looks like more bungling by the club administration.

Paddy McCartin may be another to look at?
Failing that, consider the options Teddy Hopkins mentioned above.

I agree with this.

I wouldn't commit to any ridiculously exy or long contracts though, for obvious reason.

But yes, we don't have much depth nor experience in that position.

I am a little miffed by all this, I mean would the club not have known ages ago that LJ wasn't keen on the jab? Should they not have tried to get an experienced tall defender? Maybe they rate OMac?

of course the club knew. too busy with internecine warfare. Worse than the victorian liberal party, oh hang about…

Not sure about that.
Levi announced at the end of August he was retiring.
At that stage people in his age group had only just recently been eligible for the vaccine.
How was anyone to know that it would become mandatory to have the vaccine?

whatever happens this is a huge disappointment. one of the positives of last year or two was the synergy of Jones and Weiters. i respect Jones’ right to see it his own way, but this reveals how lacking in depth our defensive lines are.

mandatory vaccine was always on the cards given that the AFL has constantly been allowed to have workplace arrangements that other industries and other sports didn’t. they were always going to have to be at the leading edge of back e passport arrangements. players fly interstate many tones a year, even i. the covid years.

maybe the timelines don’t overlap as much as i was suggesting but gezz i’d have been thinking about it a lot when players were discussing vaccination status if i was a club offical.

I’m sure they’ll find a way to penalise us for causing problems with the AFL…..oh wait, you were talking about compensation for us?
