Ciaran Byrne is a good nomination by Frank. Byrne was coming along really well until his ACL. He came back to play a few games but I suspect his heart wasn’t in it anymore after that and wanted to return to Ireland. Around that same time, we also lost Alex Silvagni to a knee injury after he had made a very promising start with us. Jarrod Pickett was another one we lost to injury around then after showing promise. If those three had managed to stay on the park (not to mention Doc, Charlie & Marchbank) things might have worked out differently for Bolts. |

I'd forgotten RW had jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge Mind you, he did OK in a couple of games in '96- but, you're right, was never the same....

Oh that Angwin goal was something else. Just a shit bloke, but ridiculous talent and athlete. The one I reckon we really got robbed of seeing his absolute best was big Kreuz. The sky was the limit before the ACL and from there on it was a constant battle with injury. In another dimension, he was injury free and the best big man the game ever saw. |

You’re right, he never kicked on from that point after showing some early promise. Massie was another high draft pick who didn’t deliver on his promise. He went on to do OK at the Crows but his career never reached the expected heights. |
