Good call on Porter. He played a blinder at Prince's Park against North one year. Maybe not on the stats sheet but taps to advantage.... Very bloody good.

Never quite there.

His debut against Essendon** in 97 was a blinder also.

"hey google... What is a blinder? "

Yeah he had one of the first taps of the game that went straight down ratten's (I think) throat

Ciaran Byrne is a good nomination by Frank. Byrne was coming along really well until his ACL. He came back to play a few games but I suspect his heart wasn’t in it anymore after that and wanted to return to Ireland. Around that same time, we also lost Alex Silvagni to a knee injury after he had made a very promising start with us. Jarrod Pickett was another one we lost to injury around then after showing promise.

If those three had managed to stay on the park (not to mention Doc, Charlie & Marchbank) things might have worked out differently for Bolts.

I always thought there was something behind the scenes there. He just looked like he got how to football but then he was gone.

Rohan Welsh was a lovely footballer. Great leap and mark, lovely kick. Just faded away quickly after 93.

Breaking your leg jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge during and end of season trip will do that.

Thanks for the memory! I'd forgotten RW had jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge  Mind you, he did OK in a couple of games in '96- but, you're right, was never the same....

James Cook another who could have been anything. Remember one game against North on a Friday night where he was taking screamers and kicking goals from 50+.

I loved Tony Pickett.
From memory he was from Tasmania and would fly in for the weekend, play and then go home in his first year.
Wore the number 30.

Yep...from Tassie and wore 30...dunno about the trips to and from Tassie

I think Leigh McConnon also came from Tassie???

He did. And Greg Towns.

Bradley's. For a trademark running goal.

Getting in early for Brad Fisher's son as well.
Flip is very successful post footy, top three one year in our b and f if I'm correct.

Could play very well, just really bad injuries.

Oh that Angwin goal was something else. Just a shit bloke, but ridiculous talent and athlete.

The one I reckon we really got robbed of seeing his absolute best was big Kreuz. The sky was the limit before the ACL and from there on it was a constant battle with injury. In another dimension, he was injury free and the best big man the game ever saw.

Had his number 10 on my very first jumper.
My nan cut them out of a plastic bin liner and sewed them on.
Not sure why I chose him - probably something about the name, rhymed with Tangles, Maxy Walker.

Vance had his jaw broken by Clive Waterhouse in an Ansett Cup game at Waverley. You’re right, he never kicked on from that point after showing some early promise.

Massie was another high draft pick who didn’t deliver on his promise. He went on to do OK at the Crows but his career never reached the expected heights.
