I'm hopeless at positioning and understanding how mids are used, but reckon we have some serious depth now.

Newman Jones Stocker
Kemp Weitering Saad
Williams Cripps LOB
Cerra Charlie Honey
Silvagni McKay Martin

Pittonet Walsh Hewett

I/c from: TDK, Ed, Kennedy, Owies, Fisher, Dow, Young, Plowman, McGov, Fogarty

Others: Durdin, Newnes, Williamson, Setterfield, Parks, Philp, Mirkov, Carroll, Boyd

Didn't consider Marchbank, Cunners or Docherty due to injury/illness.

Midfield rotation involving Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, Williams, Ed, Kennedy.

Happy for that to be torn apart.

Exciting times!

E curnow Jones Young
Saad Weitering Williams
Walsh Cripps Newman
Martin C Curnow Honey
Fisher McKay Silvangi

TDK Stocker Cerra

Dow McGovern Hewitt Kemp

Just a guess for R1. I think Stocker takes Ed’s role in the midfield. I’d also play Young as a lockdown key defender with Jones taking the third tall/ smaller marking target. I’d think that he’d be perfect as an intercepting role and is quick enough to play on smaller players. Young takes the second ruck role.

I have a best team, injured, cancer or old...and I know it shows depth and power.

A fully fit team, and we don't need to be putting in games into Ed Curnow and Plow, but we might need them with injuries and form taken into account AND if wins are paramount over development.

I love the concept of powerful brand of footy.

I love that Voss, Williams, Hamill are at the helm with Premiership Champions running the show like Power, Hansen, Voss, Williams and players in GF squads like Clark and Hamill.

Contested footy and pressure for spots, and lastyear of contracts are going to play into our hand for a successful, uncompromising year in 2022.

Did I mention Sayers? and the bar he's raided let alone expectations.

B: Stocker Jones Marchbank....with Kemp taking Marchy's spot if he isn't ready round 1
HB: Docherty Weitering Saad...with taking Williams/ Newman taking Docs spot IF he isn't ready come round 1

C: Cerra Cripps Williams
F: TDK Hewett Walsh

HF: Martin C.Curnow Honey ...if Honey...nah, he'll build up this preseason after a taste.
F: Silvagni McKay Fisher....heat on Fisher...expect him to put on some kgs of muscle..to look like Storm's Slater...but Durdin is electric albeit a novice

I: E.Curnow. Dow. Philp......and....

Pittonet of 2 rucks and definetely would be selected for mine in a Finals series
Kennedy to add more grunt and forward flexibility...shoed last year he belongs
Plowman as the 7th Defender if Young doesn't pass him/ or preferred intercept mark...but expect Kemp to do that.
Setterfield if he puts his body into the contest and passes Kennedy in the preseason
Carroll...is the one I'm expecting to surprise after a full preseason
McGovern is a classy player but needs to get his 20 plus possessions and a couple goals coz he's not the 3rd intercept mark in the backline...he's after Jack's spot.

IF OBrien steps up for the hard running wing roile, it solves our wing needs....but then again, if we can ghet Goader with a future 1st swap this year...FMD...as Camel says...give us the @#$%&! cup now

Got my glasses on Mirkov. Can't wait to come down to watch VFL games in 2022.

Fingers crossed Doc and Marchbank are ready in round 1 or close to returning fully fir. Makes a huge diff.

Love to see Kep and Stocker thrown through the middle, coz they are the future imo

BEST 22

Def: Weitering, Jones, Plowman, Docherty
Def/Mid: Stocker, Newman, Saad, Williams, Kemp
Ruck: Pittonet
Mid: Cripps, Walsh, Hewett, Cerra, Dow
Fwd/Mid: Silvagni, Martin, Fogarty
Fwd: Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow, McDonald, Durdin

At a guess, I’d line them up like this:

B: Docherty Weitering Plowman
HB: Saad Jones Williams
C: Cerra Cripps Dow
R: Pittonet Hewett Walsh
HF: Silvagni McDonald Martin
F: Charlie Churnow Harry McKay Durdin
I: Fogarty Newman Kemp Stocker

Ed comes in if Doc can’t go, with any of Newman, Kemp or Stocker to start.
I suppose there’s also a world where Young wins his way in as an intercept defender and part time ruck… that’s probably one of the better ways to manage the ruck support.
I don’t think we’ll play either Cerra or Dow as traditional wings, we just don’t have one on the list. Instead, I see us using all five followers around the contest & they can work it out from there.
Charlie will never be a CHF in the traditional sense, but he brings a stack of perceived pressure as the secondary target.

RESERVES
Def: Marchbank, Young, Draftee
Def/Mid: Carroll, Newnes, Williamson, Charlie McKay
Ruck: De Koning, Mirkov
Mid: Ed Curnow, Kennedy, Philp, O’Brien, Setterfield
Fwd/Mid: Cunningham, Fisher
Fwd: Honey, McGovern, Owies, Draftee

Fair enough, but he’s in until he isn’t, yes?

Would this be the first time we have 5 players over 2m tall on our list?

Mirkov
De Koning
Harry
Young
Pittonet

it's a pity we can't get Nik Cox. I heard that he's 203cm.

IMO it should be something like this, but as people know, I hold some players in higher regard than others. Oh well.

*Docherty\Plowman Young Jones\Marchbank*
Stocker Weitering Saad
Cerra Cripps O’Brien
Williams CCurnow Fisher
JSoS McKay Martin
DeKoning Hewett Walsh
Kemp\Carroll Kennedy\Setterfield Dow\Cuningham Williamson\Newman

Young has been recruited to play KP back and allow Jones 3rd man. I like Marchbank in that role.
Bench I like to be more specific - wingers, inside mids rotation, midfield run and then extra defender.
I think Durdin is the one that will pushing hard for a small forward role but the 3 players I have forward are very talented and skilled, who I expect big years coming up.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Pittonet starting ruck with TDK forward line but Young’s inclusion and Kemp from the bench, should give us cover to play one ruck!

I saw this post earlier on Surrey. Was going to ask you to post it and discuss. Shows depth and options when everyon eis fit and available,

I think Jones will be ahead of Young in the Key post for a while yet and agree we don't know what the go is with our No1 choices Marchbank and Docherty.

I do think if Marchy is still working back into fitness and form, Young will be 3rd intercept, allowing Kemp to be 7th Defender.

I think its going to be tough for Plowman, Newman and Williamson.

There's options and depth when everyone is available.

Williams will an interesting watch.

I'm expecting Philp to push for selection again....if he can take a wing one day......speed demon.
