It's not won on paper, but on paper it looks strong

I'll have a go. Based on everyone fit and available which never happens but for this we'll say it has.

B: Docherty Weitering Jones
HB: Williams Marchbank Saad
C: Cerra Cripps Cunningham
R: Pittonet Walsh Hewett
HF: Martin Charlie Fisher
F: Honey Harry JSOS
I/C: TDK, Dow, Stocker, Newman (Kemp)

In reality, Doc becomes Newman. Marchy becomes Young or shuffle and in comes my mate Plowman. Cunners becomes Fish. Honey goes to HF and Owies into the pocket. Ed slides onto the bench. Keep Kemp as medi sub.

B: Newman Jones Plowman
HB: Williams Weitering Saad
C: Cerra Cripps Fisher
R: Pittonet Walsh Hewett
HF: Martin Charlie Honey
F: Owies Harry JSOS
I/C: TDK, Dow, Stocker, Ed (Kemp)

I have tried to match our side to the Melbourne premiership side and find similar balance.

I honestly quite like both those sides and there's plenty of depth underneath pushing for spots with injuries and form.

Strong side with Ruck being the obvious weakness, but Finals must be the minimum acceptable result.

I/c from: TDK, Ed, Kennedy, Owies, Fisher, Dow, Young, Plowman, McGov, Fogarty

Others: Durdin, Newnes, Williamson, Setterfield, Parks, Philp, Mirkov, Carroll, Boyd

Didn't consider Marchbank, Cunners or Docherty due to injury/illness.

Midfield rotation involving Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, Williams, Ed, Kennedy.

Happy for that to be torn apart.

Exciting times!

Cunners is back running. He's working hard as we speak.

Brilliant news. :gift: He's a bonus.

How do you know?

The speed of Cuningham and Philp really gives us weapons

I saw him running on the oval outside PP. He and a number of other players mainly those who had injuries. Call it the recovery group I guess.

Cannot believe this. We have an overabundance of good players if all fit.

Two ifs. One I have already mentioned.

Second, game plan. GULP.

Interesting.

My observations from the above:

McGovern over Plowman over Marchbank over Young

No Docherty, Cuningham and Marchbank because of injury???

TDK Pitto Gov ahead of 2021 Finals player Young.

Gov came into the team in round 21 when Carlton had 14 out injured.

Cripps isn't fast, neither is Ed, nor Kennedy and I don't think George is too much faster lends itself to a slow team, but I'm gussing your looking for players winning the hard contest, or different to last year, contesting.

Honey for Fisher, so no small forward, and Durdin understandable still undeveloped.

I wonder who your emergencies are?

If Cuners Marchy and Doc unavailable, in your team, my emergencies would be Philp, Young, Fisher and Plowman

Young vs McGovern - yeah, could be.

Emergencies - not interested

No doc, March or Cunningham due to injury

Last year our issue was contested ball and defensive effort - therefore think the team is quick enough - we’ll get quicker anyway by winning more of the ball

I could argue fisher, lack of a right side frustrates me

I based it on his ball use, and the fact he's a genuine winger, which I reckon we've been crying out for. Can he grab that spot? Time will tell.

Yep

Emergencies request purely to see which players just missed out from your best 22.

Get ball and we do look quicker from the contest, no doubt, but are we quicker?

Hopefully Sam Philp can eventually roam a winge end 2022 and beyond , the youngster has a great burst of speed , good endurance , tenacity and will hunt the ball.

Has he really got great endurance?
If so, he goes to the wing. His speed is phenomenal.

Yes the wings are a weak area hence why I would play Walsh on one and Ed on the other. If Philp comes through then he can replace Ed. Extra speed would be a welcome addition.
