Congrats to Vossy
Sounds like we undertook a due and proper selection process which included Cook’s involvement with the final candidates and final interviews
That gives me a level of comfort that this is the right appointment for the club
I have warmed to Vossy in the last few days and think his experiences at Brisbane and under Ken will hold him in good stead to take us forward. He should know what to expect and shouldn’t be overawed by it all
Most importantly he’ll have some strong figures above him in Cook, Sayers and Diesel to create an environment conducive to success
Now we need to add a couple of quality assistants and the footy department overhaul will largely be complete

I certainly feel this is a better appointment than Lyon or Clarkson. There's no doubting Voss will have a burning desire to prove his own doubters wrong and win a flag by any means necessary.

My thoughts from the "who should coach..." thread...

After giving it some thought, I’m happy with Voss, as the recent things I’ve heard about what he’s done at Port sound ideal for our group.

But the other thing is that given this is the third time he’s applied he very clearly WANTS to lead this club.

I’ll judge him on what he delivers, not what happened a decade ago.

Your last line is where it's at.

More than anything, I'm just glad that it's @#$%&! done.

The crap we've all had to deal with these past few weeks has been a disgrace.

I feel the same.
It is over now, we move on and support the decision by the club.

Not sure how I feel about this - I think my opinions of Vossy have been formulated over years from reading posts about him on here

In saying that he is most likely to go on and be the greatest coach in Carlton's long history

So much for no one wanting to coach Carlton.
10 high end candidates through an extensive process, so tough it scared off Lyon, and we end with a highly respected footy legend, who barracked for Carlton as a kid.

Hello Nigel Lappin...Vossy calling...its time to fast track development. Scarlett? Are you coming too?

Welcome to Sayers' era of high performance!

This is huge...great timing too.

Destination club!

You know what i am happy because it is done and we can move forward and more importantly the players can move forward.

My take on it albeit is worth stuff all but willing to share:

As a player he was hard edged and uncompromising and that is what we need in a coach so hope he brings it.

I believe he had charge of Port's Midfield. Improvement in the last 2 years in their mids. Boak 30+ years of age but playing Career best footy, Wines was on the chopping block last year and now is Brownlow Medalist, William Drew, no-one knew who he was and he played all year and kept some good players out, Amon was looking at being Traded had a career best year. Surely Voss had some role to play in this.

I reckon with his Status and his background then he can attract some good assistant coaches, eg. Nigel Lappin, keep Luke Power and maybe attract some others.

NOW FFS CARLTON FC GIVE THIS BLOKE A CHANCE OF MORE THAN 2-3 YEARS TO PUT HIS MARK AND STAMP ON THINGS.

I'm a bit like others. Not sure whther to be elated or "here we go again".

I do like he's been treied, stayed in the system, learnt from his experiences and still wants the job. Defintely not training wheels.

Great news getting Senior Coach before trade period and GF

Agree entirely with David’s post

START SETTING STANDARDS EARLY VOSSY

Get on the zoomer to Cerra and other potential acquisitions to tell them about the new Carlton

Ollie Wines had good things to say about him.
Hopefully he is better second time round.

I just hope he's a good strategist & tactician. It's crucial

And if he's not, that he (or Cook) recognise that and neither are afraid to put measures in place to address any shortcomings, either through assistant coach support or other means.

All the best Vossy.

Who were the final four candidates they refer to in the email? We know Voss and McCrae. Who were the other two?

you mean Voss and Kingsley.

Other 2 I thought were

McQualter?? and Gia

McQualter was one of the last in there, but I really thought that he was being looked at for an Assistant's role...maybe still is.

We have had time to get used to him being our coach so it hasn't come as a shock.
Like others have said just glad it is over and we can go into the trade period with a coach in place.
