O K , just a question boys . Now , if i remember correctly , when Cook came in he acknowledged that he was getting on and one of things he aimed to do was keep his eye out for a good young colt to train up and eventually fill his shoes . Smart i reckon . But i haven't heard boo on this front since . Now i would be the first to admit i know faaark all on administration but i do know you have to have a good one if you are to go anywhere , so , has anybody heard whether Cook has anyone earmarked or is he still scouting for a good young " un ? just askin ' , thats all .

I'd have thought he would take at least a year or two to settle in and make changes before starting to look for a protégé.
No point in having one until things are settled and the objectives, systems and processes are clear.

Or you bring them in as part of that setting objectives, systems and processes so that they feel they own them are well versed in them and don't go simply changing for changes sake.

From experience this is less than likely if the job is done well in the first place.
Plus you use this to recruit the right person to maintain and build on what's done.

Might be worth a look at that price.

I like Brian Cook, but what was so special about what he said this morning?

Probably not so much special as self-aware, reflective and transparent?

Acknowledged publicly finals was the goal, acknowledged we failed as a club
Addressed poor performances and took accountability
Was open and transparent with the disappointment from the players and the coach
Addressed injury concerns and did say it would be looked at
Acknowledged that players need to physically adjust to Voss's combative game style and recruiting will play an important part in that
Openly acknowledged coaching style will evolve
Made it clear TDK and McKay are also long term priority signings - perhaps 6 years also in line with Charlie?

Nothing groundbreaking but along with Voss's post game presser, you can tell these guys get it, they want more and they're willing to do what it takes to get there.

Stocker seems to be that combative type, yet was delisted.

Maybe LOB can develop a combative side to his game.

I just watched the Pies game after watching the Dees game yesterday, and was surprised how much more physical LOB was against the Pies.

I reckon Voss believes he can mould LOB to be the player he needs to be. Hence the 2 year extension.

Zero tackles.

Imagine how many years he would have got if layed 1 just 1 tackle .
The only other Carlton player that didn't have 1 tackle was Newnes.
Below average player rewarded with 2 years.
Shambolic
Newnes was our sub.

I dunno Mick, I haven’t heard anything about the succession plan since Cook’s appointment. I thought at one stage Ian Prendergast might be a future CEO but I think he parted ways with the club last year.

But there is no guarantee, once given the reigns, they will do this. Much better IMO to have them onside and assisting in developing the culture etc and therefore much more likely to continue the journey rather than start again. Remember people at this level like to put their stamp on things.

The reason I think he is good is he SACKED me from my only semi-official position at the club.

After eight years on the historical committee he gave me the arse in the nicest way possible.

It was a work of art.

If you want to know the details meet up with me at a game in 2023.

Brian Cook, good bloke.

And putting his stamp on things may just well be introducing a terrific successor - core part of a good CEO’s gig in making a mark.

Looking for my own successor is an important and challenging responsibility
