Didn’t go to many matches this year but distinctly remember games against Dogs and Brisbane
In both matches had a holiday in one quarter and lost the game
Absent bleeding goals as is the norm under the game plan and not coming with intensity for a quarter we were very competitive with both Brisbane and the Dogs
A better game plan better coaching panel few other midfielders luck with injury and natural improvement of youngsters I don’t think we are that far away

Too much angst relax half the battle is getting a good coach young or old and having good people around them and that’s why we are doing what we are doing now zi have much more faith in Sayers than the previous 3 or 4 Presidents
Go Blues

..development, total buy in, pressure.. ..this is what creates good lists.. ..in my opinion, there's not that many great players around.. ....but in the right team, at the right time, good players become great in the environment..

....our list, injuries notwithstanding,, has huge potential.. ..and yes, potential is a dirty word, it's just waiting to be realised.. ....clubs in the past have proven how it can all be turned around..

When we lift 17 we will need our own Swan lager ad.

I can see it now, a montage of sckaed coaches and dud players. Cripps and Voss holding the cup. Glorious

This thread might eventually end up bigger than the Covid thread.

The wind has picked up and it's dark over yonder... is that rain I smell in the air?

Or is it whatever we're "cooking" this time

Ha. Only time I post is the offseason. It’s so sad that for as long as I remember the only time I’m enthusiastic is the @#$%&! off season….

I think we are at the cross roads now. The list has ample talent. We have new coaches. If we don't make something out of this in the next few years it might be back to the drawing board. Though in saying that we've got a fair amount of youth so maybe our attempts at success can be sustainable to a degree. That seems to have been part of the strategy

I think we'll make it back as a power club. While recruiting astutely is absolutely paramount, it's not where immediate improvement will come from.
Our present list at times have shown they CAN play. Nowhere near often enough but the ability is there.
Which is where the new coaching panel becomes so bloody important.
If Michael Voss and co can get everyone playing to their ability there's good times ahead.

I still want to see us learn to develop kids, & not just no.1 picks like Walsh & Weiters. If you put together a best 22 for us right now, an absolute truckload would be from other clubs.

Every year around this time Carlton cleans up we are the October/ November champions no one comes close to us this time of year.

This has been happening forever, everyone looking at our best 22 and wondering how all these stars are going to fit in.

Every year is the same and it's not just the players who are going to make the difference. From Pagan, Collins ,Sticks ,Pratt, Swan , Trigg ,Smorgy, Liddle Ratten , Malthouse, Bolton , Teague, Russell ,Judd ,SOS Murphy, Gibbs and Kruezer all these and more were going to make the difference that sends Carlton into Stratospheres we haven't been to before.

The last 5 or more years I have simply refused to get sucked in by the Hype. I have dreaded the start of the year because that little voice in your head kept telling you that we were shit we are going to get flogged.
And the voice was right.

I don't know why but this time it feels different to me.
I can't give you one reason why, I don't think Voss , Cook Sayers etc have any special powers that will turn things around.
In actual fact I think that the off-season appointments have been totally under whelming.

But for the first time in God knows when I actually think this could be it the turning point.

I've been thinking similar. The more I think about it, the way it turned out to be Voss & not Clarkson or Lyon, could just be it.

I got to this point and was going to contact you to see if you might feel a bit different this time around, for all the reasons you give below...

Ditto, all the above

Add, Cerra, Hewett, Young and pick 25.

Hearing Cuningham and Marchbank are running, already.
Mirkov has been put on an intensive training block to get him to AFL fitness.
Charlie has a full preseason ahead of him.

All of last year's injured are on the comeback or over their ailments, with only doubt imo on Cuningham being available in round 1, and haven't heard if Doc and Philp will be fit and ready for 2022.

Something different about the outlook this time.

A lot of players on notice in 2022, and at the end of the year, at least 3 have to be cut to enable the 3 mandatory Draft picks.

High Performance. Powerful Brand of Footy. Focus on the contest. It aint for the faint hearted...and Hewett brings with him Swans culture and the brand of footy Voss wants.

Yeah same here
I’ve got 8 in mine but I refuse to play Plowman and McGovern so could be 10 depending who they come in for

I feel better when I look at the 95 team and see Rice, Spalding, Clape, Pearce, Diesel, Hogg, Madden and Manton though. Really I just feel better when I look at the 95 team
