This is directed to thryleon or anyone else who is advocating for this EGM. It is a genuine request for answers as a long-standing member of the club:

How is the ticket going to make us a more attractive destination for coaches and players from other clubs? Please provide specifics, including reference to the particular background, experience & skill sets of each candidate and how they will improve our club.

Please don’t speak in general terms or refer to historical events which cannot be changed, please give details of the ticket’s plan for the next 10 years and the credentials of each member of the ticket. I don’t want you to tell me what’s wrong with the current board. I want you to explain to me why the ticket members are the best people to run my football club and exactly what they intend to do if elected.

Also, please explain the timing of your challenge, noting that it is occurring during the trade period. Why is it in the best interests of the club to hold an EGM in October?

So you want stability by calling an EGM and pushing the cause of faceless nobodies?

Do you understand why I'd have concerns? Especially coming from a poster who posted 4 times in 9 years, suddenly posting 80+ times in a week, agitating for an EGM.
Maybe I've become overly sceptical in my old age.

Skepticism is fine.

Real change means pushing out those who have over seen one disaster after another and done nothing to change it.

Im come from the Carlton supporters club forum over some rather personal differences where I've been a daily contributor for quite some time, and I had the same user name there.

As for the points about stability being contradictory lets review. This mob have sacked 4 senior coaches in 10 years with the longest stint going to the biggest amateur.

As for the rest, I'm under no illusions the forums are here for people to vent, not to garner public support. Don't over rate yourself or myself. We are nobodies.

Any body with half a brain could figure it's not the coaches fault that we can't draft.

Just sacking the coach isn't going to improve the performance.
Why has the drafting been so poor, why has the development been so poor?

We clearly have issues of those responsible for failings haven't been held to account.
Just because you make the club financially successful doe's not mean it translate's to onfield success.

If you're happy with a rotten mess and an out of touch board then be my guest.

Why not have a completely open and independent review, the only reason you'd keep it quite is that your trying to hide something.

The reality is we should be playing finals now. - It's Teague's fault? I don't think so.
How after 3 years is he to blame for poor list management? Any body? Tell me how.

This stinks

The real concern is not the EGM per se but the appointment of a new coach with only lip service to getting the best person available…. Again

You would expect a new coach and assistants will be appointed long before any EGM. My question to Vince and his gang would be ''Are you planning to honour those appointments''?

You are being unfair.

I'm just curious whether the alternative ticket wants to keep diesel, or whether they want to sack him too...

By the time the EGM comes around half the board will only have been there a month or so, how can they get out of touch in one month?

I also don’t understand what positive outcomes could possibly come from and EGM at this point in time? Surely given the change already occurred, plus the imminent draft and coach/assistant coaching appointments what more can be achieved this year except absolute chaos?

All that's being asked is that they present their strategies for change and define how exactly they intend to improve things, rather than just rabble-rousing for the sake of making noise.

How exactly is that unfair?

Yes I think if you are going public making a statement regarding challenging the current board then it is incumbent to also detail exactly how you will improve things. Its fine to say they will but if they have a plan then release it! At present they do not even have Make Carlton Great Again caps!

I am a nobody and cannot anwer any of your queries.

All I know, is that i have seen this board tighten their stranglehold on the club, and fail to hold themselves accountable for anything they have done to deliberately hinder the process of the football team being managed.

When Teague was appointed, Judds training wheels comments with his media hat on, saw him undermine the sitting senior coach publically possibly to manipulate the decision making process. He may have disagreed with the decision to appoint Teague, but its clear that the board failed to unite on this subject.

We go through a process to appoint Bolton, remove Neil Craig after 2 years, and then wonder why Bolton starts to go backwards with list turnover after list turnover.

We have Teague coach 50 games in 2.5 years, garner a rather impressive winning record for a club with 8 years of losing culture to contend with and over turn, and just as things were getting to the halfway mark of his tenure, we decide to pull the rug out from under him. I am not absolving Teague for his tactical short comings. The term defense wins championships has been around for a lot longer than he has been coaching or playing football, but to look at the way we have decided to oust senior coach after senior coach, and then let John Barker sit underneath all of them failing time after time is just one reason why this mob have proven they are not up to it.

To question the timing of the EGM is warranted. It should have happened years ago, and has been on the cards from February of this year, so to see the club perform in true Carlton Football Club fashion has simply triggered the faithful to state, enough is enough:

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/car ... 56zb9.html

Mick Malthouse has the following to say:

And in a new article in the Herald Sun:

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ ... ecf95b8af9

Rather than waiting for the board to change its ways (which it has only to continually arrive at the same outcome) its time to change the board.

Perhaps the appointment of a new coach should be put on hold until the composition of the board is determined. We sacked a coach with a year to go on his contract because of the hope of picking up Clarkson, so let’s not pile another dumb decision onto the many others by the board over the last ten years and add a payout to an unsupported coach.
Waiting to appoint a new coach in say two month’s time will allow for a thorough selection process and the appointment will have credibility in the industry and the support of the board at that time. Otherwise we can sacrifice another 5 years worth of membership, $ and love for this club for the sake of some egos. Why would anyone apart from Lyons put his hand up for the gig at this moment.??

Change the board with whom? Who are the white knights? What is their strategy?

Look, none of us are happy with the club’s on-field performance. But until a ticket emerges with a genuine plan and an impressive membership with the right balance of skills/knowledge, there is nothing to discuss. All this EGM does is make it harder for the club to get better because it is distracting (waste of energy/money that could be focused on working to improve the club) and potentially very harmful (possibly scares off talent from joining our club).

No we didn’t. We made an evidence-based decision to sack Teague following a 12 week independent review of an underperforming football department.

A review without so much as a glance at the underlying governance process and decision making that has underpinned a merry go round of coaches and poor performance is nothing more that window dressing. The ‘review’ would be exhibit A if Teague bothered to take the club ti Fairwork Australia
