Can you name a team that has ever won a flag that was full of nice players.

This may come as a shock but simply keeping real-life violent, misogynistic cauliflower out of your team doesn’t make you ‘nice’.

There is nastiness in the group. Jack, Cripps, Stocker, H, Weits, Jones are competitive beasts. Need white line fever.. not players that depend on talent and lazy.

I am responding to Syd's weird insinuation that although all clubs engage in "wokeness campaigns" like anti-violence against women, Dusty's assault of a woman shows that not all clubs actually mean it, and that somehow translates to being a tougher footballer. Believe it or not, you can be an uncompromising hard bastard on the field and a kind, decent person off it. Since this is now the TalkingKlopp forum, Syd would be horrified to know that under the German, there's been a strict no-dickheads policy, and the team is packed with teetotallers, devout Christians and Muslims, players who run charities for poor kids, have led the way in kneeling for BLM, and probably even believe that anthropogenic climate change exists and is a threat. They've also topped the Fair Play league just about every year and don't get in the refs' faces. And they're an unbelievably strong and winning bunch of flower. Carlton being shit has nothing to do with Syd's tedious culture war.

You must be joking, there isn’t a nasty molecule in any of those guys except for Stocker. H collapses like a house of cards every time he is touched, he hates physical contact.

It is not a culture war - It is a football club where the main objective should be to win football games

If you read this

https://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/1002305

You will see the club has implemented a lot of things but is that the objective
You see this a lot in NSW with NRL teams - take Parramatta for instance - They have an amazing Leagues club where they offer all sorts of programs and benefits for their members - they have a state of the art stadium one of the best small stadiums in the country , but Parramatta hasn't won anything since 1986

I suppose it depends on what you want from your football club you support

Is can't we just have both not achievable? Do they cancel each other out?

Syd has a never ending problem with correlation and causation.

You can have a bit of both but not all the one way
It's like Caz and his agenda - What is the agenda

It appears at our footy club it doesn't take a lot for them to lose focus .

they may have gone about it the right way only the coming years will tell - they have built a reasonably sound off field despite the constant grumblings about the board
Will this eventually lead to on field success remains to be seen

Parramatta built the off field on the back of a great team in the 80's the focus then shifted to the off field and the on field has struggled

we had sustained success with deplorable off field they have spent the last 20 years trying to repair that but has this been at the expense of on field

Eddie built Collingwood into an off field power house but their success has been minimal

the worry is as the generations move through if you don't have success by the way of premierships then the off field will crumble due to lack of support

That is perhaps one of Walshie's funniest post (and that's saying something). I reckon he's a plant. Probably Teaguie's mrs...

I don't think this statement tells us anything about where the club's priorities lie. If we had won premierships during MLG's tenure, you can bet that would be top of his list of achievements, in bold underline font. But because we were shit, are shit and will forever more be shit, he trumpets the peripheral achievements.

The club has two areas based on the priority to be a successful football club. To be a viable business and to win premierships or at least provide the possibility of winning premierships. The list of LG's achievements above all relate to the Carlton business. The football department is the group assigned to achieve the other priority, winning premierships and it is this group that has failed per se. I expect significant reform for without it culture won't change.

Geelong - 2007, 2009, 2011.

Solid administration off field. Player led culture. No flower policy. Full of players who were ultra competitive with any activity (including intra club challenges).
