Sucks for the club having our gun key forward out and down to three key position players and no back up ruck.

Not much time to innovate when there are no training sessions left. Interesting none the less.

Liam Jones to play forward? North’s tall forwards aren’t that tall anyway right?

Why drop Owies (managed) then bring him back in.
Perfect opportunity to play Honey or Kemp but NO let's do the same sh'xxxx
Even Setterfield as a tall forward for something different.

Setterfield? No. Just no. I'll take Owies thanks.

Kemp probably was the obvious one though.

Will they panic and re-consider Ed's little brother now?
Hopefully not. Stay the course with the planned progression.

Would have thought kemp would be the perfect wild card to come in and play forward. We’re incredibly short up front now. Is JSOS our only real target? And even he will be giving a chop out in the ruck.

With the midfield going well in Crippa’s absence, maybe he’ll spend more time up forward and provide a tall target. On the upside this might force to lower our eyes and hit up leading targets rather than bomb it to Harry, but as others have said in reality we’ll probably just bomb it to Eddie

Seriously, the first item this review should address is the fitness staff. The length of our injury list is ridiculous, especially those over 190cms. I know that some are just unavoidable, but if our 2nds played tomorrow they would have about six listed players available.

I think we bomb long when under pressure, when we got on top and able to get clean ball in on Sunday, notice we were no longer bombing it in…

Harry, Charlie, McGovern, Pittonet, Docherty, Casboult, Cuningham, Marchbank, Gibbons plus the other peripheral players. Cripps on one leg.
They probably should.

Yes injuries to key position stocks have been diabolical this year
We need to adapt tomorrow and lower our eyes, use the corridor and run and carry
Not sure how that will go as the long bomb has been ingrained in this group for a long time
I would be tempted to bring in Kemp and maybe swing Jones forward to provide a contest. Clutching at straws though

Noooooooooooooooooo

No Harry vs Ben.

No players over 200cm available for selection.

NM will be licking their lips.

We have an opportunity to prove coaches have got smarts and players selected worthy of being on an AFL list.

Tom DeKoning has an important role to play.
Will need a chop out.

Cripps and Jack key forwards and Martin No.3.

Can't just bomb it high with no No.1 and 2 KPF's.

Lower our eyes and we can still be dangerous.
Small forwards Betts (CHF), Owies, Fisher have huge roles.

No thanks. Keep the backline the way it is. Why break up a key strength? No we found other ways forward last week and this gives us the opportunity to develop further ways aside from Harry. We just may run them off their feet.

Very true. We can actually make their key defenders a liability if we're smart about it.

Ed had an interesting role on the weekend against Collingwood, Bondi. He didn't play wing, nor did he go into the midfield.
He played a half forward role as a part of a seemingly restructured forward strategy that doesn't rely solely on Harry.
Between Ed, JSOS and Jack Martin, they took 25 marks. Without attending the game, it appeared Ed was used as an outlet kick from the back half. Due to his hard running capabilities.
He also blocked off the switch kicks and 45 degree short kicks into the corridor. He rarely pushed up into stoppages except in the forward 50, instead covering the Pies defenders and not allowing them to run off for the handball.

To my eyes, it was another case of the coaches employing strategies that are significantly different to how we've played the first 2 years under Teague. Too often we have used a Harry or nothing strategy going forward. Now, (like last week in the midfield), we are sharing the load and we're much better for it. We're less predictable (which makes us harder to defend) and we're increasing our avenues to goal. Ed was playing to his strengths. He ran hard, created space and put us inside 50. (7 inside 50's, a game high)

So in the past few weeks, our team defensive structure and application has significantly improved, our forward structure has significantly changed/improved and due to injury, our midfield set up changed completely. (for the better)
All major changes and all significant improvements. My only question is, where the @#$%&! was this in the previous 50 games?

If the current trend continues, Teague has greatly improved his chances of keeping his job. Not because of win/loss but because of how we're structured. The job for the review panel is to see how and from who the changes have occurred.

Talk about observing the nuances of the game.

Ed is a Duracell Bunny. Thoase legs take him places others can only dream of.

Coaches thinking outside the square?
They have found a way to defend and an alternate to enter forward line differently, without the ubiquitous Bomb.

25 marks between 194cm, 186cm and 181cm players in the forwardline ... maybe they weren't all taken in the forward 50, so those 7 inside 50's are gold.

We can't be favourites with all these injuries, but that doesn't make any difference.

Harry may be out next week too.

Have to win this to show some character, some heart, against the odds.

Jones to forward line just to bring ball to ground may happen during game if needed.

So glad Jack Mahoney isn't playing. Saad would have been his opponent.
Run starts from the back half.

I would have thought Kerr was the obvious inclusion. He could have even played back to allow Weiters or Jones forward.
I would say Cripps / JSos the key pillars forward. Honour the leads and don't bloody kick high and long...... Martin, Betts & Kennedy to be crucial forward as well. This will be interesting.

Geez, we can't take a trick at the moment with injuries.
