Our midfield seems to play much better without Cripps.

Although we didn’t beat much today, it was great to see some belief in the last quarter

Winning centre clearances makes a huge difference. Particularly with some clean ball

Walsh was magnificent today. Definitely a smoky for the Brownlow. Surely he makes AA this year

The other pleasing sign today was Kennedy. Has reinvigorated his career. Good on him.

Also loving the Raging bulls in Stocker and Kennedy. Kennedy might have finally found the perfect recipe of weight vs speed, agility, power and strength.

Slot a rampaging Charlie into this forwardline roaming far and wide (leaving Harry inside 50) and defenses will have their hands full.

If Crippa comes back in next week, put him in the forward pocket alongside Harry and leave the onball brigade as they are to get some further symmetry happening.

Well done Blues.

Amazing when an injury is needed to provide more opportunities to others and more midfield minutes for our younger brigade.
This is what most Carlton supporters have been begging for.
More midfield rotations and less reliance on Cripps.
Dow, Kennedy, Fisher and SPS were fantastic along with Ed.
Now the trick for David is to add Cripps into a rotation with bigger rest spells up forward.

I thought after getting his pants pulled down in the first half Ronnie Bass had a pretty good second. Almost halved it with Grundy.

Need one more... Curnow is good but not for the future and maybe Cripps not the answer but the aura of Cripps demanding attention is a positive. I am sure the coaching team will work this out.

Dow?

Ummm.. No.

Teague’s a mastermind coach and Dow’s a dud

Tune in next post for more of “Walsh’s Wowsers” :screwy:

I dont understand your point - but I feel Dow is still abit way off it no tackles today - again. What he did was good but if a mid doesnt tackle then he shouldnt play AFL football imo.

Teague is an excellent young coach the best we have had since Brett Ratten and potential to be even better with the right support around him.

All professionals in the industry rate Teague as a coach from Eagles to Crows.

GO AWAY!!!!

Glad we won, would have been a blood letting had we lost.

JSOS, what a warrior, if we had 18 of him we’d be top 4.

Agree. How can you not see what Kennedy, Stocker, Fisher, Dow, SPS and amongst others TDK have in talent and quality. Never in doubt. Just play them.

Ps. I never doubted your selections SoS.

Last quarter was awesome (for us), first three were pathetic.

Such a shame there wasn't a crowd!

Bam Bam, Cottrell and Owies are all on the rookie list and played a role.

Thats all we want.... the whole squad buying in up to rookies who realistically should rarely get games.

Speaks volumes of the development and patience of our development coaches.

why would the fairweathered softcocks be praising Teague if we were "without a structure"?

Isn't 'structure' a coach's job?

Walsh just phenomenal. As someone said earlier not just one of the best young players but elevating into one of the best players, period. He is special and is only going to get better. I think we all thought Cripps was the one that would take us back to where we belong, but it's Sam Walsh. Today he took his game to the next level.

I was rapted for JSOS that the boys could do it for him today. The first half was rot but came home like a train. The delivery to Harry in the last quarter was what he had been crying out for. We only have to get it somewhere near his advantage and he'll do the rest. Was nice to see them going through the middle for a change too.

Overall, always good to get one back against the old enemy and considering our injury list, any win is a good one. Pound for pound, their midfield should have destroyed us, but thanks to a kid in his 3rd year dragging his mates along with him, we matched and then went past them.

Sounds way too creative for Teague et al to deal with

Because fairweather we had no back up ruck and no key CHF to play to a structure

So roaming small CHF were too nimble in the end - are you going to praise Teague for his tactical genius?

Not sure I’d call him a smokey.

He was sixth favourite before today’s game.

Totally unexpected making it all the more joyous. Lots of contributors. Impressed by Dow’s recent development. Have been very critical of him for some time. Much much better when he is in and under and handballing rather than kicking. 17 possessions today 4 kicks 13 handballs, continuing recent trends. Clearly under instruction, so whoever is responsible for this needs a pat on the back.
