The keep everyone on their toes.
No second chances.

Media complain that we didnt play 6 players more than 2 weeks and question us, the Doggies give no one 2nd chances, not even the seniors.

We can learn from that when we have a deeper list.

Blues have 11 out injured. 7 players in our Best 22
Doggies have 5 out injured. 3 players in their best 22 missing if you count Ed Richards who has not been selected best 22 this year.

Injury makes a huge difference.

Nevertheless, we should be more ruthless at the selection table when we have players who can play AFL

At present we have Cottrell and Dow as developing players in our team.
SPS and Kennedy are not developing players any longer.

Which reminds me, FFS play SPS through the middle...please.

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/04/22/western-bulldogs-young-gun-responds-to-recent-criticism/

Quote:
“But also, when you view an AFL game as a battle, it’s very hard to switch off at times and leave prisoners. There’s a fine line between respect and rubbing their noses in it.

“With me, I try to be as ruthless as I can to an extent, just because it helps me stay focused and locked in I suppose when I play.

“It keeps me focused, on my toes and focused on the game.

This is how Bailey Smith has responded to recent criticism of the way the Western Bulldogs approached their match up against North Melbourne on Good Friday.

The Dogs smashed the Roos by 128 points, with Smith coming under fire from Dermott Brereton.

Killer instinct.

Ruthless

Foot on Throat.

We had our chance against Freo and didn't or couldn't.

If only Dow could take this mindset into the game. Lets start by getting Dow to grow a mullett.

Do something.

Have to go into this game breathing fire because Lions will be ready to throw water on us.

I'd like to see the team line up like this, but I doubt it will because we're very process-oriented and don't like making big changes. Which I understand - you train to play a certain was all summer, and train players to play in certain spots. It doesn't make any sense to throw your hands up in the air and do everything differently when faced with your first raft of challenges. But it doesn't make it any less annoying, either.

Plowman - Jones - McGovern
Docherty - Weitering - Saad
Newnes - Stocker - Cottrell
Cunningham - McKay - Fogarty
SPS - Cripps - Gibbons
Pittonet - Walsh - Williams
Murphy - Betts - Casboult - E. Curnow
Sub: Kennedy

I like that team with the cattle we have alot.

I agree. SPS to play forward/mid and Gov down back I like. Cripps to spend more time up forward which will give more rotations through the middle for Cunningham, Fogarty, SPS, Gibbons and Murphy which makes us less predictable providing they can all defend when needed!

I don't like Cripps spending more time forward. He can't kick to save himself. That shot he had in the first quarter 15 to 20 dead in front was totally embarrassing. He plays in the middle and rests on the bench for mine. Don't like Gov in our defensive 50 either. Too lazy, not good below his knees, goes to ground too easily. Will give up way too many goals. If we need another tall back there, send Casboult. The 22 bluechampion selected is pretty good though not convinced Betts keeps his spot. Just those couple of positional changes, am not a fan of.

Teague and the selection committee had the chance to be ruthless after our loss to the Filth.
Plowman and Murphy should have been dropped but instead we opt for the kids.
Teague officially lost me after that game.
Ruthless and Teague should never be mentioned together and our once great club has lost its arrogance, ruthlessness and other clubs laugh at us not fear us.
Funny you mention the dogs as they have dropped JJ and there Vice Captain.
While we just accept it and lay the blame on our youth.

I am reasonably confident Weiters & Jones can manage Daniher & Hipwood, who are both pretty hot & cold.

After 5 rounds I think the side needs a bit of a refresh via some positional tweaks, which Teague hasn't really done much so far. Our old nemesis Daniel Rich has been dominating off half back....what have oppo coaches been trying to do about him? Could we shift Doc up the ground & play as a defensive fwd on Rich? Take Doc away from deep defence where he has had a few absolute clangers this year (even though I think his overall form has been OK).

Mcgovern to defence as other have suggested

They are a good side Brisbane, but they ain't Port Power, not by a long shot. Carlton by a goal, & season back on track.

this game will be a slog, Blues will come out firing and it will get close at times given the hype this week one expects it , however reckon Lions have superior personal on the park this week.
Once the pressure abates, and a game opens up a little, it could turn nasty.

Regardless of who is in or out, show up and play with some pride. Tackle, chase, harass, run hard without the ball. And then do it the following week and the one after that etc etc. Timr for the players and coaches to grow up and have some pride in what they do - for themselves, for the supporters and for the club. I can see us having a good crack at the Lions given the media pile on this week, but can we bring it for 4 weeks straight? Show us

I'm worried that our other nemesis Mathieson gets a run after lighting it up in the reserves last week. That would be truly spew up worthy
