You know once we draft a player, he's a player we have.

until he doesn't star in the first three games, then he's the player we don't want (earlier if we sponsor him)

So we didn’t really want Kade Simpson?

We need to get more sophisticated.
We should find an opposition player to sponsor :smoking:

We’re wasting our rookie/development list with the likes of Boyd, Cottrell, O’Brien & Parks… all of them are dead men walking IMO.

Mirkov is the only project in the group with McDonald, Kennedy, Honey & Owies all fairly well exposed.

Why wait another 12 months to discard the chaff? Are Cottrell and O’Brien to be the measure of Vossy’s prowess?

You and me both, MC. When it comes to those blokes, I’ve seen enough to know that I’ve seen enough.

Project talls like Caminiti, Cripps and Flockart are going to be available as rookie picks, yet we’re all full up.

Apparently after Josh Cripps did his ACL which has hurt his chances of being drafted but has come on with a bang

https://www.afl.com.au/news/686290/how- ... ulk-up-8kg

From the article

He returned just before the 12-month mark and was finally rewarded for his work ethic with an excellent four-game run for East Fremantle's colts team in the second half of the season, averaging three goals, 23 disposals and 11 hitouts and earning a call-up for the NAB AFL Draft Combine.

Believes he is a forward/ruck. 199cm. Sound familiar?

We could do with a true key position forward.

A bit of lateral thinking. Release Charlie to the wing. With Cerra on the other wing and Hewett in the middle we have a totally different look to our mid field.

O'Brien has a string to his bow with his kicking but Cottrell unfortunately has nuffin.

I don’t think Charlie will ever be that fit again.

In any case, it’s a moot point. The list is full.

Wouldn't be rejigging the entire team for a draftee. Charlie should be our deepest forward.

We have a mobile tall forward who has only played half a dozen games since he kicked 7 against a top 8 side and you want to play him on a wing to be "different"?
He has the making of a gun mobile tall forward. Let him play where he's the most value.

How good can the list management be going if, for one reason or another, you can look down the list and rule a line through 25% of the names before the season starts?

Marchbank, Cuningham, Docherty & Philp.
Setterfield, O’Brien, Cottrell, Parks & Boyd.
Mirkov.

???

Not sure why its a list management issue.

A few contracted players were injured or fell ill during the year. Shit happens. That's football and life.

Mirkov and Boyd have only been at the club for 5 minutes.

Cottrell Parks OBrien and Boyd were the only ones whose contract ended this year. The club has and still has the choice to delist them.

Brander at 195cm would have been a handy addition in place of one of the 4. Maybe.
I would have swapped Parks for Brander, but I'm only guessing from the outside.

The club has re-signed, or committed to re-signing, all four of those guys to the rookie list. They’ve almost certainly made the case that they go hand in glove with the four guys in the rehab group (three of whom happen to be life members). I’d have any one of them before Brander, but let’s be honest, Vossy is in more trouble than the early settlers if any of them are in consideration for a game.

Mirkov is a project. We all hope it’ll work out, because we need to get better in the ruck, but you can’t formulate any strategy around the guy. He’s just a tool performing a task. You wouldn’t even put his name on a magnet.
