Yes and at the risk of GWS saying you need to let it go Frank  I was extremely disappointed when Hamill left and was almost the straw that broke the camels back

Now just have to let go on the campaign by AFL on the severity of punishment of salary cap breaches :banghead: and the lack of performance in the last 20 years by all levels of our club and another false dawn in 2020 and2021 and then I will be totally cured :smoking:

CARLTON co-captain Sam Docherty underwent surgery yesterday to repair an acute syndesmosis injury.

The 27-year-old reported significant soreness in his ankle which required further investigation.

A specialist opinion was sought on Wednesday afternoon, with the decision made that surgery would be required, which Docherty underwent that same afternoon.

At this stage, Docherty remains a chance of returning to the field this season: however, the Club will monitor his rehabilitation and will be in a position to provide an update on his progress in the final few rounds.

Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said that while the injury was disappointing, surgery would allow Docherty the best form of recovery.

“This is clearly unfortunate news for Sam, who was really looking forward to helping the side put together strong performances in the back half of the season,” Lloyd said.

“Bad luck like this is never good to receive but at least by picking up the injury early we’ve been able to ensure we can get Sam on the road to recovery as quickly as possible.”

Its a July fool joke Effes? Yeah. tell me it is.

Unbelievable. Its a curse.

I hope the Review will get to the bottom of the "curse".

Hopefully its a 2 decade curse that started in 2002 with our first wooden spoon and end of 2021: this year.

John Elliot and his Hamill comments started this, I have no doubt.

Once Hamill left we lost our soul.

Agree.

I loved Elliot till this point. That's when I knew he wasn't the be all to end all and as powerful as he made out.

IMO, he was actually was a yobbo in a suit.

Felt terrible for Hamill when he returned to play the Blues at Princes Park. He got what he expected, along with a thrashing at the hands of the powerful Carlton team.

I kind of hoped he would want to come back home, but knew he was offered serious dollars he deserved.

Was the beginning of the fall of an Empire.

Hammil still hadn't signed going into out B&F night and speculation was mounting he was considering other offers. Jack allegedly said "we'll hang you out to dry you prick"
That was my recollection anyway

Same. My memory was that was just an after the fact story spun out by that cauliflower Allison.

So glad that car wasn't going any faster - this is a much more appropriate ending for him.

I think Collins tried to get Hammil back once Jack was gone, he politely declined

Good grief...

I doubt we’ll see Pittonet again this year. We desperately need Casboult to stand up and support TDK for the remainder of the season.

No mention of McDonald. The previous week’s report suggested he was close to returning to the VFL.

McDonald was ready to start last week but didn't.
He's had almost 14 weeks to sort out his back.
He will be handy. Plus I'd like another look at him.

Pity if Pitto is gone. Really need him to replace Levi.

IIRC Russell did say it was about a 4 week lay off for Pitto at the start
He's only missed the last 2 games.

Anyone but Levi. But I'm glad we've still got him (even if he's overweight and on one leg)

AFL site says 5-7 for Pittonet & the dreaded 1-2 for McDonald.

Williams hamstring, again.

I'm honestly more interested in what comes out of the review in terms of rehab, strength, conditioning than coaching/development

It has become a joke.
Every year this seems to happen.

Agree. It’s a complete shambles. Every club has injuries and all that but every week and for what feels like forever, we seem to have 12-14 guys unavailable due to injury. This shit must have a bearing on team performance.

You can accept the odd year where you have a bad injury run.

We are in perpetuity when it comes to this issue

I think there is more to it than bad luck eg unfit, poor positioning, wrong body types for roles etc etc

17 Players on the injury list
5, possibly 6, out for season

Counts for nothing?

Shades of 2002 when Brittain's team had 17 injured and Carlton's 1st spoon ever , and Ratten's team in 2012, had 14 out injured and missed the 8.
Both of these coaches lost their jobs.

WCE had 6 out and were reported as decimated by injury when they beat Carlton with 12 out.
Tigers have 3 best 22 and playing with 16 Premiership players and they reported as playing depleted.
Carlton had 14 missing on the weekend including the 2 KPF's and all players over 200cm except for 22yo developing ruckman and they were expected to beat a full stregth NM.

Doesn't look good for Teague, injuries or not.
