Always a bit concerning when you see an injury thread for the following year already alive and well the year prior.

Kemp has back soreness, good chance has got stress fractures.

I've run out of things to say from this shit happening every @#$%&! year.

Andrew Russell was 'best in the business' before we got our mitts into him.

Everyone is good till they come to Carlton. Then they are no good. Then they leave and become good again.
Really hate the off season.

Seriously, the fact that not even this bloke can get our guys physically and/or mentally fit to play at elite level is an indictment on our club's culture.

FWIW, Mark Stevens tweeting that Kemp was sent off for scans on an ankle, and minor hiccups for Harry, Saad, SPS.
All unconfirmed.

Hopefully the club just tells them to hold their breath if it’s only minor hiccups.

As long as it’s not the dreaded one to two week injuries for them .

Injury update: Brodie Kemp

Young Blue to be sidelined after suffering an ankle injury at training.
Just now

THE CARLTON Football Club can confirm that Brodie Kemp will undergo surgery after suffering an ankle injury at training.

The 19-year-old rolled his ankle in a marking contest during Friday’s training session, with subsequent scans confirming a syndesmosis injury to his left ankle.

The Club consulted a surgeon on Monday where it was determined that surgery would result in best course of rehabilitation.

Kemp is expected to be sidelined for at least the next 12 weeks.

Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said that while the news was disappointing, the Club was always taking a long-term view with Kemp’s development.

“Brodie has put in a lot of hard work over the last 12 months, from the moment he arrived at the football club,” Lloyd said.

“While this news is unfortunate as Brodie was really setting himself for the start of the season, he certainly has the mindset to attack his rehab with professionalism and commitment.”

Really over this shit....

Tom De Koning has sustained a low-level stress reaction to his back.

The Carlton Football Club can confirm that ruckman Tom De Koning has sustained a low-level stress reaction to his back.

Head of Football Brad Lloyd said the 21-year-old is expected to miss the start of the 2021 AFL season.

“Given the nature of this type of injury, we suspect Tom will miss the first few games of the season to allow his body to rest and recover accordingly. We expect at that point that Tom will then be available for selection.”

Maybe we notice our own players getting injured more, but I'm sure that our pre-season, year in year out, turns it to an utter shit show

Happens to most other clubs. I see Ben Brown has to have a knee operation. I also suspect that we get these young men who are still growing and it is a balancing to increase the strength while they are still growing. Especially the tall ones. Harry had something similar as I recall. I am certainly no expert but a hazard with our sport, given its varied nature and requirements.

Who has actually been on the Princess Park oval the boys train on, is the ground too hard or something?
Because we seem to have a lot of stress fractures in the summer leading up to the start of every season.
