I dare say it would have been due to restrictions on indoor gatherings - the night was still going to be at reduced capacity. |

Until last night, they were good to have 700 people. Credit to them for trying. |

It's ok. Leave it til after the season and have it on the same night as the 2021 Best and Fairest. Save money on venue hire. |

So if it is cancelled, is that it? No 2020 B&F? Seems weird. |

I don't like this (the decision to hold it in 2021). And I don't like delaying it again, because it isn't an online event (which it should have been given the extraordinary circumstances we are living through). I just think 2020 was last year. You celebrate the performance of X player last year. 2021 instead should be about moving forwards. Clean slate. For everyone. A clean cut. My concern is more with the principle. I mean I think it is very unlikely the concern I have would actually manifest into a problem for the club. But let's suppose the player who won the award for 2020, didn't end up having a great off season (say, due to a drop in standards, or an off field incident that was frowned upon). And so we celebrate his achievement on the eve of the new season. Just doesn't seem right. Again, it is extremely unlikely this would happen. There's a reason BnFs are conducted the year of the season. |

There's a reason BnFs are conducted the year of the season. I agree with you, completely. 2020 season is a distant memory. It's over, the pre-season games are days away, focus is on 2021. Some who will poll votes are no longer at the club. I may be wrong but I reckon all other clubs have had their B&F ceremonies? |

That's a good point, hadn't thought of that (that some players are no longer at the club). Bit of a joke really. |
