For this week at least it's in our own hands because us losing to Adelaide is the only result which puts it out of reach before next week

Too true my friend - all meaningless if Blues don't win.

Can make it without beating Brisbane.
Need to pump the Crows and go close to BNE.
Melbourne narrow win v GWS, then get pumped by *
Bulldogs (Haw, Freo) and GWS (Mel, Stk) lose both games.

Nice theory, but MelBourne's % too high - they are already 53 points to the good - add in margin over Giants and would prob be 10 goals to make up Plus our own 28 point deficit plus our losing margin to Brisbane.
Somehow I can't see Carlton beating Crows by 16-18 goals.

It'll be interesting to see if Teague tweaks the game plan to take more risks in order to score more , if he does it shows he has an eye on finals. Or does he just stick with the current game plan , whatever that is , in an effort to get the players to keep learning the game plan over and over again.

We'd be lucky to beat them by 16 points. The betting odds are ridiculous. I actually think Crows should be favourites based on current form. They're midfield is back and it's propelling their overall game.

Crows missing Talia, and possibly Walker. 2 key posts.
Tom Lynch after a Hammy in a roaming KP role.
I don't think Milera will get up.

Their drive in the last 2 wins comes from Sloan Laird and Couch.

McAdam has been inspirational.

They have a 5 day break, like us, but have to fly from Adeliade to Gold Coast.

Can't see them standing up for 4 quarters.
If we can close down a couple play makers, gain the ascendency early, play 4 quarters, this is the game we can build percentage, but lets get the win first...and we will.

SportsBet has us at 12-1

I think they & the pundits are factoring in us losing to Brisbane.
I don't have that big a concern about Brisbane.
IMHO, I think we are very similar and evenly matched despite relative ladder positions.
Our boys will have to show tomorrow that they have learned the lessons that would then be successfully applied to Brisbane next week.

Just ahead of time can't resist this pick:
They should play 'Mad Dog' Cottrell on 'Mad Dog' Robbo - wouldn't That be fun to watch.

Anyway, the point of this thread was to show that it is all possible so with a win under the belt tomorrow it gets to be the case next week that Carlton has something to actually play for...
...and isn't that all we really would want?

Here's how it could look at game time v Brisbane...

Not to mention if * get up on Melb they may lose some percentage so we don't have to close the gap completely ourselves

So in other words, if these FOUR results (in order) happen as desired...

GWS d Melb (slight)
Carlton d Adelaide (big)
Hawthorn d Footscray
St.Kilda d GWS

then as per this pregame ladder it is actually ONLY on our boot against Brisbane to get in!

How GOOD would that be?
To be able to sit back enjoy the game optimistically Knowing already that a win gets us in!

After all the rigmarole in this thread, it's not a bad outcome to be down to only THREE results we can't control.
And we still have 'get-outs' in the final round if they don't....
If Melb win then we are saved if they lose to Essendon*.
If Footscray win we are saved if they lose to Dockers.
(GWS v St.Kilda won't matter if GWS lose to Melb)

P.S.

Actually we are really only counting on ONE upset based on current ladder position apart from us beating Brisbane:

Hawthorn d Footscray (or Freo d Footscray)

Not too unrealistic after all in That light is it?

"But wait there's more!"

Yep, there's one other 'upset' that would really be quite the bonus:
Gold Coast to beat Collingwood this Monday night.

to quote Bruce:
"Wouldn't THAT be Special!"

I'll pretend you're in one of my 'social distance' buffer seats and barrack hard for both of us!

or, you could send me a tablet w a good camera, a swivel-mount system, 5G dongle and some ball-tracking software and I could set it up next to me...

Can't help with the 'real feel' of pie smells or spilt beer but you could get some mates around to mock that up.
