Yup, tonight is it.

Let's all be rootin' for the Crows before hand.

Don't despair if GWS get up, I have another 'Plan B' tweak if that happens.

You just KNOW I have.

Get what you are saying, but don't you think that tone is a bit accepting of mediocrity? I mean we have lost 3 of our last 5 and have lost the last 2, hardly anything to be upbeat about.

What? Wanting to sneak into the finals is accepting mediocrity? :?
We finished 16th last year. Did you think we would magically become a top team overnight? I thought we could finish between 8th and 10th and I suspect we will. That's decent improvement IMHO.

You were referring to finals, which I do not believe we will make, and if anything any semblance of hope we have is not due to us winning games (cause we haven't the last 2 matches) and is more to due to the poor performances of the team's above us. It is accepting mediocrity to be pleased that we are mathematically in hunt despite not winning our last 2 games.

Where did I have us finishing this year? Yeah about 8-12. Give or take. But you reference 16th last year. And yet that includes the inept performance of the team under Bolton. Whereas in reality Teague's win loss ratio is about the same this year as last year, so you should be comparing apples with apples, which is probably around 8-12 last year vs 8-12 this year (extrapolating likely win loss ratio over the entire home and away season). You call that tangible improvement? Really?

You are a beauty CC.

Carlton lives for Flags.

Finals are just the appetiser.

We are not far off.

Tonight's the night....gets us to 7 wins 8 losses.

Yep.
I don't believe I'm stupidly optimistic.
I have seen enough to believe that Carlton CAN beat anyone when they get their shit together.

I just want us to have a shot.

Remember, Footscray won their flag from 7th; this year is more even than that.

Anything can happen.

Gosh Paddy, you really are Mr Cloudy Day

Forget about Teague for a minute. Enjoy the upward ride.

We dominated the last 2 games for lomg periods.
There was obviously a shortfall, not a catastrophy.
We identify the little problems we have, fill gaps, fix problem then we cansee where we are at based on our last year's performance.

I don't think anyone thinks we are not better this year.

Its just as easy for me to say we should win the next 3 as it is for you to say we will lose the next 3.

But in the meantime, I am so grateful we are still in the hunt. Its fun.

If CC1961 hadn't started this thread for us to appreciate the sums, then we would be relying on The Herald Sun or Mr Cloudy Days to inform us we are destined to hell and there is no hope.

Come on, just for this thread, smell the Blue Roses.

Exactly

I wonder if Paddy Cripps thought we would win the game at Kardinia Park. Just sayin.

Unbelievable. We have done everything to throw away our chances but are still alive because other sides like Melb and GWS are worse chokers.

It's all part of the cunning plan.

That's why I set up this thread.

Just remember....
39 points down 2nd quarter, 2 games out of 8 and then History was made!

7 in a row and bagging sweet 17.

Can anyone say we can't beat any other team when we play at our best?
We just need that best to be about 3 1/2 quarters long each game.

Not going to happen, we only just beat this mob.
Aside from hoping other teams don't win, we will need to win the next two games.
And one of them will have to be a decent win to make sure.

Oh ye of little faith.

Like I said, all part of the cunning plan.

We are only down 5 goals in % terms on GWS, WB.

They will both lose one, (as will Melbourne) we will win both of ours - Finals made.

Besides, I am anticipating some weird video from the gulf of Mexico...

Been on the predictor. If the Dogs, Giants and Dees lose one then we have to beat Adelaide well, a close win won't likely do, and Brisbane (ouch...good luck) and we get in. We need to get the percentage to around 102%. Then we get a trip to Perth.....oh yay.

Tough ask but it's good that we are somehow still playing for a finals spot 2nd last match. Somehow keep hanging in. We should be near entrenched but hope we learn from that.

The footy gods are dressed in Dark Navy Blue

Umpires couldn't bring us down in the end.

6 more wins :gift:

Indeed.
If anyone could do it this year it's us.

Sadly, my sister has this theory...
They have to get beyond 36 points down before they wake up properly and bring their A-game.

So, ergo - in the last 2 weeks we weren't down by enough.

hmmmmmm.

New 'cunning plan':
we give all our opponents a 6 goal lead at the first bounce.
At least that gives us a full 4 quarters to make up the lost ground!

Call it Thoroughbred Handicapping.

We have gone from $501 (yesterday) to $251 (this morning) on the Pointsbet Premiership market.
Maybe CC1961 is onto something :smoking:
