Must show up and win tonight. I’m in the “we’ve improved this year” camp, despite being very disappointed with the performances in the past two matches. However, if we drop this game or the Adelaide game or, worse, both, we end up with only 6 or 7 wins and a very average last month of the season. We must finish this season well and hit the pre-season with some genuine momentum.

I am critical of the coach as much as the players.

I must say that since I got here I've been surprised at the level of SPS bashing.

I've seen him quite differently.

He is 3rd for Disposal Efficiency 75% (Simpson, Docherty 77%; Cripps is 14th @ 67%)
(5 games plus)

He is also 9th for contested possessions, 11th for total disposals, 9th for tackles.

He's not perfect, no-one in the side is, but he's not amongst our worst.

I credit doing something productive with the ball much higher than just racking up pointless possessions.

(17th for Clangers, Cripps 1st with 25% more than anyone else.)

Last 3 games:

v GWS, 5 disposals at 60%, 1 contested, 1 turnover, 77 metres gained
v GCS, 10 disposals at 50%, 3 contested, 3 turnovers, 131 metres gained
v Freo, 11 disposals at 27%, 9 contested, 4 turnovers, 98 metres gained

26 disposals at 42%, average of 12 metres gained per possession

Mate, he's from Halls Gap.
He's been travelling away from home since he was 16yo.

If anything, he should have starred in Alice Springs (Darwin).

He doesn't go hard enough for the next contest. He can if developed to do so.
Remember Eddie Bettes had no engine, and wouldn't work on it in the off season. Then Libba took him to the sand dunes for his personal preseason to get him to where he needed, then Malthouse came....and Adelaide took advantage of all those preseasons and in his first year there kicked 66 goals running up and down the ground exhausting his opponent. These days you still see Eddie in the backline to help then work hard back to the forwardline.

Me too.

Some posters have a problem discussing player weknesses.
They seem to think the "detrctor" is writing them off forever.
Those who don't think kids are developed at their new club after Under 18's.
I would say 5% of first year draftees are ready to play above average football in their first year, and the percentage increases very year as they develop.

Our kids were thrown to the wolves/ coal face from day 1 without any development or preseasons in the gym.

It will be interesting to see which team handles the 5 day break better.
Hopefully we can stretch them a bit up forward with our talls. I expect Levi to inflict some damage if he's on his game.
Sam Reid concerns me a bit. Hopefully Jones can keep him on the leash.
Sydney are actually averaging more uncontested possessions than us this year. Their kids are coming along well. I really rate Rowbottom.
Let's hope we play positive attacking footy and we can get on top in the middle. Cripps should enjoy not having Hewett in their line up.

Polson?

I don't like Plowman on Papley.
Papley can turn on a dime.
I don't buy in that Plowman is the best we have on small forwards; maybe if we had 6 tall defenders.

We need someone quick, nimble, aggressive, defensive mindset.

Rodney Hogg

Hoggy can come off the long run at him.

I meant Matty Hogg from East Keilor

I think they and Freo have been fast improvers the last half dozen or so games.
I actually think we win tonight only because I think we have a greater capacity to kick a score but the problem is we can't kick goals late in games so if we don't get off to a flyer look out it could be another loss as the Swans are vastly improved. and will have their tail up whereas we might have dropped our bundle by now. Teague will need to get them up.

But yes outside of that the 5 day break is probably the biggest thing.

Tonight will be very tellling.

Have they done enough soul-searching over the dreadful 2nd halves?

Have they come up with an alternative plan?

If we just get more of the same then this outfit has no capacity to learn and MUST be removed entirely. (Coaching team).

Sydney are 15th, there are no excuses tonight not to show dramatic improvement if they've planned for it.

I called james (Rowie) to take it easy this week.

Uncontested possessions are how they play, and won because of it last week.

They have no one who can handle Levi.

Just spoke with Rowbottom's family.
Swans are pumped, and plan on ... winning.

I'm keeping an eye on McGovern tonight.
See how he fairs against the Swans kids.

I'm watching SPS to see some creativity.

I expect Cripps and Kennedy to play on each other ALL game.

Parker >>> Murphy? Lets see.

Coemon Bluebaggers
Crows still infront of GWS
Come on Crows

Come on Blues

CC1061 can tell us about the rest.

Time for another  I'm pumped.
Its Sydney. I live in Sydney.
I want to paint the place Dark Navy Blue

errr.... sorry Blue Vain.

My BAD. total brain-fade, suddenly thought it was in Sydney (maybe coz following the Crows game)

I live here (Qld) - I Know WE don't have it.

Shits me to tears when the sun comes up at 4.30am in summer.

I kid you not. Very hard to get back to sleep.

p.s. still don't understand why 8.10 the sun goes down here by 5.30.

We REALLY Need Daylight Savings for BOTH ends of the day to make sense.
:fight:
