I also didn't know Moshe as well as many others here. We would often catch up at the footy as he sat a bay or 2 away from me. We'd say hello and talk health etc like a couple of old tarts. It's funny, cancer creates a bond or fellowship amongst people who have been through it. I keep tabs on people here who I know have been there and as much as I knew Moshe was unwell and was trying new treatments, I had a feeling of unease over the past few weeks when he wasn't posting much.
As others have said, he had a gift of making people feel important to him. We'd only catch up for 5 minutes at the footy. We were both content to know life was OK for both and shared hope that the Blues were on the rise. I loved my footy but like most things in life, Moshe knew far more about Carlton that i would learn in 5 lifetimes.
It's been a very sad couple of days.

I recall many years ago medical professionals and others telling me positive thinking and mindset helps you beat cancer. I became frustrated with that philosophy because it somehow inferred to me that people who were taken had somehow failed or not achieved the level of positivity. Yet I look at people like Jim Stynes and Moshe who are intelligent, positive, caring souls who have fought as hard as anyone. They've bought people together and achieved more than most. And through no fault of their own, they've been taken. Life just isn't fair sometimes.
If the Blues win a flag in my lifetime, it's my shout at the pub. We can all have a drink to Moshe, reminisce and celebrate a life well lived. And a flag well deserved.

Its going to happen.

I look forward to joining my Blue Brethren in Melb when it does... coz there will be the centre of the universe when the big day comes.

Life is for Living.
Make the Most of it.

I look forward to celebrating Moshe and his and our Navy Blue Flag(s)

You're right, it's not fair.

I'm not aware of Moshe's situation, but for myself I was lucky enough to discover my cancer early and thanks to a wonderful specialist I'm operating at near enough to 100%. I wake up everyday so thankful.

I'm certain Moshe, along with all other cancer patients, would urge everyone to keep in touch with your GP and keep ahead of the game.

While Moshe is up there, he might like to call in a favour from his namesake and get the Collingwood defence “to part” for us.

I'll drink to that with you B.V.

A callout to GWS; Agro; BV; Doc S and those who were very lucky to be counted as Moshe's friends- many thanks for the stories you all shared......I feel very touched and humbled to read the stories  :thanks:

And, what a wonderfully erudite and compelling writer he is- thanks to you Agro and Moshe for the experiences shared about the lost decade in the '70s

RIP Moshe.

Holy shit. I feel sick :(

So sad we never had a chance to meet, especially considering the community connection. A life well lived in so, so may ways. MHRIP.

Thank you for your thoughts but I was a passing acquaintance of Moshe. GWS, Doc, Agro and many others were far closer than I was. No doubt they would be significantly affected and I share your best wishes and thoughts for them.

Terrible news!
I am obviously completely ignorant but I always thought he was a young fella, maybe in his 40s.
Maybe that was just the energy and mischievous tone of his posts.
I’ve never met anyone from TC (that I’m aware of) but will miss him nevertheless.

There are no doubt quite a few other posters who have just stopped posting who are no longer alive.

There was a minyan for Moshe tonight on Zoom.

93 households and maybe 150 people were invited.

Eight or nine of us were asked to speak (including me) so I read the piece I wrote yesterday.

Amazing to hear the impact he had on so many different people and different communities.

The word that kept coming up was “Mensch”.

I wanted to point out that David Mensch played with Darren Milburn and that “Mensch” in the Jewish sense might not be such a compliment to Moshe being a Carlton fan and all but I let it slide...

That was the highlight of Patrick Smith's career actually, the day after the 95 GF:

Gary Ablett, goalless. Brownless, useless. Mensch bench.

Moshe was in Dallas for that grand final and I was in a coma in Malawi so neither of us ever really fully bonded with that team.

Well, that and the fact that it wasn’t a scratch on the 79-82 group...

RIP Moshe. Never met Moshe but on most match day and post game threads I read his comments over the last 4 years as a somewhat active member of TC and before that as just a lurker. Always a good read. moshe25 is one of the few names on here that I actually remember to me it resonated for some reason. Sad to hear that he is gone. He will be missed by all here at TC and by all accounts everyone that knew him.
