This Colllingwood team shouldn’t worry us. We should be physical and hard and pressure them from the first contest. Make a statement early and take the physicality up to them.

Good ins.
Dow to the stoppages where he belongs. We should win the clearances even if Grundy gets the hitouts. Their midfield is weakened. The game should be played in our half IF the entries are not just hacked to the F50.
Stephenson is a good in for them. Mihochek is OK but Stephenson has the X factor and I suppose Plowman will get him.

I think we will win this. I think in the next block, our games against Sydney and Adelaide will be the test of the boys and whether they can come out and crush the oppositiion or take them easy and lose.

I was checking the AFL website for TV guides to this Game and it says this Game will only be on Foxtel!!!!

Surely this can't be right? Can anyone confirm please?

Huge game today. It's got my nerves going already. Pretty excited to see if this team can take another step and stand up in a game where there is a lot more on the line or if they are going to go into their shells under the pressure. If Collingwood lose this they may well miss the 8. They still have the bye to come and Brisbane and Port to play in the run home. High stakes!

I probably should know this but can anyone confirm whether as a rivalry, carlton v collingwood are the two teams that have fought out more AFL/VFL Grandfinals than any other two teams?

No I would think Collingwood v Melbourne.

We have played Collingwood, Essendon* and Richmond 6 times but pies v dee's would be 7 or 8

Which Eddie...?

I have no confidence today. No belief that we can win it. And yet we probably should.

With my lack of confidence, crap endurance and poor skills, it's a good thing I'm not running out to play.

Carlton by 62.

Does anyone recall attending the Carlton v Collingwood game at VFL park circa 1977 when we lost by 102 points?
Unfortunately I do :donk:
Just sayin'
Go Blues! Just win today!

Spare a thought for me.
I have to watch the game with my hubby and son, both Collingwood supporters.
It's been a long time since that has happened.

Show some compassion kezza.

Its the 50th Anniversary.

Enjoy the Bluebaggers and show your joy at the end of the game....we better win.

This is off topic.

We're celebrating the 1970 Grand Final at today's game, and because I had nothing better to do I wondered what our team would look like if we sent out the same playing numbers today as were worn in the 1970 Grand Final. Same numbers, same positions, just our current list. Here's that team:

FB: 21 JACK MARTIN - 3 MARC MURPHY - 30 CHARLIE CURNOW
HB: 11 MITCH MCGOVERN - 43 WILL SETTERFIELD - 35 ED CURNOW
C: 6 KADE SIMPSON - 34 SAM PHILP - 15 SAM DOCHERTY
HF: 17 BRODIE KEMP - 42 vacant - 5 SAM PETREVSKI-SETON
F: 28 DAVID CUNNINGHAM - 25 ZAC FISHER - 13 LIAM STOCKER
Foll: 2 PADDY DOW - 1 JACK SILVAGNI - 10 HARRY MCKAY
Res: 22 CALEB MARCHBANK - 7 MATTHEW KENNEDY

This supposes that everyone was fit and available to play, of course. No-one currently wears the 42 of Robert Walls and the bench is two players less than today.

If you were then allowed to pick three players to fill the empty spots (from the lowest jumper numbers available) and allowed to re-jig the side to play to their strengths... it's a decent side.

FB: SIMPSON - MARCHBANK - STOCKER
HB: O'BRIEN - MCGOVERN - DOCHERTY
C: MURPHY - E. CURNOW - PETREVSKI-SETON
HF: MARTIN - C. CURNOW - J. SILVAGNI
F: CUNNINGHAM - MCKAY - FISHER
Foll: KREUZER - DOW - CRIPPS
Res: KENNEDY - KEMP - SETTERFIELD - PHILP

Anyways... that's how I've spent my Sunday morning waiting for this afternoon's game...

I've got a feeling the Filth will come out very aggressive lead by Grundy, Adams, Maynard and Mihocek. Wouldn't surprise me if there is a scuffle or 2. They've been wound up all week by there Pres.
As long as we focus on the ball and keep it close until half-time then I reckon we'll smash em in the 2nd half and run away with a nice 43 point victory lead by Crippa of course and Levi up forward !!

I love that No 43.

43 will do.

I am so nervous about this game.

I'm always nervous before a Carlton Collingwood clash.

Today, the godparents get together with all the kids to watch this in Sunny Sydney.
I'm one of the God parents.

One of the god parents an ex Carlton player. Not me.

Its also the 50th Anniversary of the 1970 Grand Final: Greatest comeback in history.

Its also the 50th Anniversary of the Godfather's sister's wedding.

Why would a Carlton family have a wedding on the day the Bluebaggers play the GF?

Anyway, the reception started at 6pm and there was hardly a guest inside.

Come 8pm on that GF night the guests, 95% Carltonians started arriving with a belly full and it turned out to be the greatest party after the fear of it being the worst of all time.

Alls well that ends well.

I just hope, fingers crossed we win this one to set up a huge game next week vs the GWS.

Good luck to youse all.

Go Blues

Expecting a 5+ goal win, but happy with a win!
