True, but we have Levi. I think he’s perfect as a second ruck. Just don’t feel that pitto offers enough forward or around the ground to justify selection if TDK is going to take the majority of ruck contests

I don't have answers to the selection questions but do feel that the game will be won or lost at the selection table.

If we lose we'll either be saying

'we needed Pittonet in the ruck'

or

'we needed an extra runner, we went in too tall'

Agree but to be honest there’s been two games this year where I was completely convinced we were going in too tall that would bite us back in the arse.

One was against the Dogs in the wet and the second against the Suns in an extremely hot and humid Darwin.

Those have probably been our two best performances for the year (minus the goal kicking against the Suns).

Cunningham played in the practice match against GC. No mention of Kennedy, Dow or Cottrell.

Mickstar, my mantra is 2 ruckmen in a Grand Final, so why not make it work during the year before you get to the Grand Final.

An injury to your one and only Ruckman in a Grand Final...well it can put someone like Grigg in there, otherwise you have to rejig your spine.

I don't need to argue that point anymore.

TDK is so mobile, so quick, so compettive, OMG, what have we got here? Thanks SOS

Whilst Charlie Curnow is out, Levi is one of 2 KPFs, Harry the other.

That's our structure.

TDK looks like he can play anywhere he's that good.
He only turned 21 last month. FMB

Dow i even younger. Walsh and Kemp younger than that.
These guys add class to bottom age players .

The list is looking really good with a better coach on match day

What we have now and next year is an abundance of class.
Beating Pies then GWS proves to me our boys have stepped up, even if we drop the games we should win

Cunningham... Minimal possessions but highly damaging.

Dow... Explosive, evasive, good hands around the footy but the kick!! :yikes:

I just want no pressure on either of them - let them break down the door - especially Dow at his age. Nothing wrong with a long apprenticeship.

If we're winning and our team is performing that's the main thing.

Let confidence manifest amongst the group and if Dow's working his ass off and kicking millions of footies, then I've got faith. At least he'd be leaving no stone unturned.

He's still learning to contest boundary throw ins and hold a mark.

No mention of Kennedy, Dow or Cottrell in the reserves report so perhaps at least one is carrying over as a reserve or as a replacement.

Yes I know but I thought he may have been dropped and played in the reserves

Not sure why but I was able to listen to this.

Towards the end of the podcast, Jon Anderson interviews the great John Nicholls.
IMO, Big Nick is the greatest ever Carlton player, with apologies to Bruce Doull.
At 80, Nick is still very lucid and this is a must listen for all Carlton people, especially those of us lucky enough to have seen the great man play.

I just hope they don't let McKay practice kick before the game.
Last week he was woeful, only got one practice kick through the big sticks and it was about 35-40 out directly in front.

TDK needs to keep building on his marking too, then he will start to be more damaging.
It's a major floor in his performances so far, although last week he started to grab a couple.
But in saying this, for a young skinny kid, he does some really good body work and can out muscle the bigger rucks at times.
I thought a few times he was going to get pinged for a push out, but because he is skinny I think the umpires just assume the bigger ruck is playing for frees.
I hope he has a good run tomorrow against Grundy.

Personally, I'd love to see Dow play but I think we might need talls to play against this mob. Especially if they play Grundy, Cox and Cameron.
But it looks like they have some good outs, De Goey, Howe, Reid, Sidebottom and Treloar. So this game could still be won/lost in the middle too.

Of course you're right KK about his weakness in the boundary, but TDK has shown plenty for mine.
He has taken some really good marks, he's just missed on mark of the year.
His body isn't developed enough to stand against the big boys at the boundary throw ins, but he has won a few he was able to get a run and jump.
His ability to follow up a sequence of play at top speed and kick for goal ... its all for real.

They are signs of his ability and of what is to come. Yep. Expectations.

What I'm saying is the signs are there and he's worth pursuing with by allowing his development of his craft and footy knowledge to be done on the big stage, in the seniors, against the big boys because this kid shows signs Kreuzer and Pitto haven't ... and we must keep him at Carlton whilst the wolves circle for his signature.

He did really well against Nic Nat. He beat him many a time, to everyone's surprise. Its real.

I focus on the things he can do, and he has to work on the things he needs to, because he doesn't look out of place with the big boys. He's only 21 ans he IS doing things which have the footy world talking about what he is doing and will be doing in the future. He is the future, and he's ours right now.

They are my expectations, but I'm not alone. No need to hold back on them. I'm enjoying the ride and his progress. He will be OK. He's strutting his stuff right before our eyes.

The future is here.

I'm glad Teague is focussed on the things his players can control.

I feel I'm getting a bit ahead of myself with this game vs Filth.

Feels like a walk over is coming for us tomorrow for me, and glad Teague seems more level headed than me.

4 quarters Bluebaggers.

Looks like Kennedy played ressies but I didn’t see Dow in the highlights.

Noticed the same thing. I don’t think Dow and Polson played the scratch match yesterday. If there is to be a change, it’ll be one of those two.

Spare a thought for me.
I have to watch the game with my hubby and son, both Collingwood supporters.
It's been a long time since that has happened.
