Gold Coast will be coming off a 4 day break so no excuses for us.

Ideally would like to see Martin (if fit) to come in for Betts. Honey was quiet but will probably be given another chance. Would like them to find a spot for Dow but we seem to have a number of players doing just enough to keep their spots. On a positive note our "bottom six" players are the strongest they have been for 20 years.

Love Honey's kicking style. There was a moment in the 3r where he turned to his right and kicked a bullet that only just missed its target. The replay showed it was that pure kicking style I grew up watching in the late 70s and 80s....these days, too many players don't guide the ball to their foot...think Sidebottom or Tex Walker

Honey is a keeper!!!! (no beekeeper pun was intended)

Would love to see Honey in the dry. Know it was wet but thought he fell over a lot, looks very clean below his knees though.

Cottrell plenty of it late, lacked some composure but that will come.

TDK really good I thought, especially 2nd half.

Just keep playing them.

Eddie's the elephant in the room. What to do. Does indigenous round save him? It shouldn't but it might.

Walsh with more centre bounce attendances. I fail to see the value in playing Murphy there instead. 7 clearances to Walsh and 3 to Murphy.
Having Cripps playing in the middle with 2 x 30 year olds makes zero sense. Murphy to the wing, Walsh into the middle and let his development progress.

It will be hot as hell at night in Darwin and its a big ground. I would play our best possible running team. So for me, if Cunningham is fit then he plays over honey. I would also play Pittinet over TDK vs witts. I think it’s a better match up around the ground. Cottrell is a hard runner so he is a def in. Newnes probably gets another game too haha.

I have a feeling Martin might need another week, but obviously he plays too. Not sure who you drop.

I wouldn’t play McGovern as an extra tall.

GC can play a lot better than they are.
We have lost quite a few times to them over the years when w shouldn't have.
For those thinking about resting or rotating players for the finals, we have to get there first.
Experience tells us that after a win we have a let down.
Unless there is an injury from tonight, I think we should go in unchanged.
If it's dry it should be quite the shootout.

I’d see how Kennedy pulls up, maybe he misses and Martin plays

there's never too many 1 week calf injuries

agree

pointless rushing him back for this one and then having him redo it and missing the rest of the season

He looked sore and tired.

If Martin's done a calf that's 3 weeks. Dow is the obvious replacement.

Fisher had some brilliant moments vs Freo in congestion feeding the ball out. He's a mid every day of the week AFAIC.

Biggest danger this week is emotional let down.

Yeah I imagine both Martin & McGovern will need another week off.

It’s Dow time. His form has apparently been building in the reserves matches and he will give us depth and dash in the midfield. We've had a Taste of Honey (hi Beatles fans) but Josh seems like the obvious choice to make way if Kennedy comes up. I don’t think they will drop Betts (yet) so it’s probably a choice between Honey & Gibbons.

I would play Pittonet if he’s available. TDK’s time will come.

I have the exact same worry. After the Power beat us in a cliffhanger, the next week they went down easily to the Saints. Hopefully this type of possible let down is something Teague will address with the playing group.

In: Pittonet, Cuningham, McGovern. (Martin probably one more week)
Out: TDK, Cottrell, Honey

From what I've seen briefly of Cottrell, Philp and Honey, they all look very competent, but all 3 appear to have battled with the lift in intensity. Not knocking them, I'm comfortable we have 3 players there. Exacerbated no doubt by the fact they're coming from 14-16 a side scratch matches as opposed to VFL (which is a lift in intensity itself).

Shouldn't be the same issue for Dow who has tasted it.

Its interesting what the MC would be thinking about rotations and when.

We have 3 more days recovery than Suns.

Its not like Teague to make wholesale changes.

The MC know they can lean on TDK, Cottrell, Honey during compressed fixture.

I would keep Cottrell ahead of Simpson to keep improving, and feel we may have found one with him.

If McGovern Cuningham and Martin are fit they are selected.
Martin took himself off against Wegirls to be ready for Darwin Indigenous round, so I expect him.

Which 3 go out vs Suns?

Remember we have 9 days before our next game v Collingwood before The Big Bash 4 games in 14

I can't see Martin playing 12 days after he did a calf, even if minor

Russell said it was only tightness and that Martin was smart to call it quits when he did because he really wants to play the Dreamtime game.

He hasn't done any damage from all reports. He may have though.

We will see. My money is on him playing because this round is a big deal for him.

Go Blues.

Witts is a pretty big bugger. TDK has an amazing leap but we will get slaughtered at around the ground stoppages if he's our #1 ruckman.
