Freo have rebuilt their midfield beautifully in the past 3 drafts. Brayshaw, Cerra and Serong. 79 disposals between them last night. All hard defensive runners who can win their own ball or spread offensively when required.
Instead we too often hide our youngsters from the centre square. Yes it's good to have big bodies around the ball but we are too one dimensional and lack burst around the ball.
Freo won kicking 7 goals. They just restricted the opposition to 4. Our backs can only dream of receiving that sort of protection.

An interesting stat I read yesterday is we are the only team to have scored 50+ every game this year.

and I just read that Freo have restricted their opposition to <50 their last 3 games

Make sure you put a Big ad on the front page of The Morning Herald stating you paid good money for these tickets to watch a fair contest and don't want to see Umpire No. 22 Naiffen "Cheats" Williamson umpire the game.

Just let me know your Go Fund Me Account

One positive I take from Freo is that Brayshaw and Cerra have only started to hit their straps this year (their 3rd year). They both struggled last year.
Hopefully when Dow and O'Brien get their chance they can do the same.

That's a positive stat and I have no doubt about our scoring. Our issue is the goals going the other way. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we were in the 8 yet we had conceded the second most points. Only Adelaide was leaking more points. Apart from the teams that have played more games, that hasn't changed.
Teague likes to play a strong attacking game but it is leaving our defenders up shit creek. We need leg speed in the middle to apply pressure when the ball is going the other way.

We need at least one player who runs defensively in the midfield. Walsh does, but he's on the wing and he isn't super quick off the mark.

Honey, Philp and Dow are quick.

Expect Dow in the guts this weekend.

Just bought two tickets in the blues member area for this game. But have just been given some seats for free with a dockers friend. Anyone thinking about going to the game that wants to purchase them.?

We lack burst around the ball and moreso in defence ...

Harry for Martin makes us slower than we are already.

Rest Pittonet, Play TDK as ruck.

Rest MM. Play Dow mid.

Drop Newnes. Play O'Brien mid.

Move SPS upfield. Cottrell half back.

At the least.

Apparently Pittonet injured his hand against wet toast, that’s why he was off for so long, maybe he will be out injured anyway.

Agree.
TDK can't ruck for more than a half and eeds support, but let him develop with the big boys.

We just need to stop those run-ons. Cost us most of our losses. If we can actually stop those we won't lose many games for the rest of the year, like we wouldn't have lost many up to now. Not easy as training sessions are few with so many games happening. Can put an extra behind the ball, a forward into the midfield and try to slow the game down but you really need the training sessions to structure that up and practice properly.

In the early 80s we used to have those runs-ons on a near weekly basis during the premiership 3rd qtr, no-one could stop it, now it happens to us on a near weekly basis at any random point of the game.
