Worst performance under Teague. Until we get rid of this mental fragility that has plagued this club for too long, we’ll just be a tease. Our best footy can match it with anyone. Our worst footy is probably the worst in the competition. There’s no consistency between games and even between quarters. Every side we play knows they’re never out of it because we can go from a 9/10 to a 0/10 at the drop of a hat. We need to find consistency of effort and performance.

Oh and just another year the Hawks laugh and take the piss out of us. Had a chance to take a stand. Didn’t have the mental fortitude to do it.

We were very complacent last week and did only enough to win. It carried over to this week but this time we couldn't lift when challenged. We got stuck in the rut.

Seems to me we're really ordinary at scoring other than on the fast break. port, north and hawks all gradually shut that down.

We've had such wild fluctuations in so many games this year.

Sometimes small things in a game make a big difference. Early in the 2nd Kennedy fumbles a handball 5 meters in the clear. Opportunity to hit the scoreboard lost. Minutes later he gets the ball in a similar position and kicks it high to Eddie/Cunningham. Hawthorn rebound from defence and goal.
This then happens again....momentum lost confidence sapped.....hawks get cocky and we fold like a wet lettuce.

What was also disappointing is that after terrible 2nd quarter only 13 points behind didn’t see a lot of fight after that
Enjoy the weather boys on your bye don’t strain yourself but just know you let YOUR WHOLE SUPPORTER BASE tonight and embarrassed yourself on national tv

Not sure the ‘Traditional’ 5:40pm Friday game suits us. :hitcomputer:

So is he to blame for the poor effort of every player on the night

Strange year. That was just another strange game to add to the many I have watched this season.
I think it was our turn to be flat.
I don't think our captains are leading very well at the moment.
These hubs must be hard for those with young families.

We punch when we should mark.
We try and mark when we should punch.
We haul it in when we should tap it on.
We tap it on when we should grab it cleanly.
We leave our man when we should stick close (Murphy and Simpson the serial offenders).
We bump when we should tackle.
We don’t block intelligently.
We hand pass to teammates in less favorable positions.
We don’t kick to the ‘strong’ side of leading teammates.
We take our eyes off the ball which increases instances of fumbling.
We have have no ‘feel’ for the pace and cadence of games - knowing when to play at breakneck speed and knowing when to slow it down and keep possession.
We have no on field leadership (see point above).
We fall over when it’s crucial to stay on your feet.
We fail to manufacture ‘1 up, 1 down’ contests, often spoiling eachother.
Our field kicking is of a very poor standard.
We often hang back instead of attacking the ball (SPS).

That’ll do for now.

I’ve sat through some horror shows over the years but that was @#$%&! putrid. Just @#$%&! putrid.

We go from playing really well to an absolute rabble in the space of a quarter. An indictment on everyone, players and coaches.

Midfield got absolutely smashed. They murdered us, inside and out.

Horrible performance all round. We had zero winners for mine. Zero.

Pretty much just sat there dumbfounded from halfway through the second quarter. Struggling to comprehend wtf I was witnessing.

Just when you think the dark days might be over.... :banghead: :donk:  :hitcomputer: :yikes:

From late in the first quarter when the Hawks started to apply pressure we crumbled.
Our midfield was absolutely smashed, Cripps the only one who can hold his head up.
Honestly some players were barely sighted.
Getting pretty sick of this.

Unfortunately Cripps response to the mediocrity around him was to try to do too much himself, rather than trusting others, and he made things much worse when we were still in touch.

This sums it up - and what makes our performance worse is that Hawthorn won’t make the eight.

I wondered if we would fold again. As soon as there’s expectation, they crumble. They are like a bunch of private school boys. We need country footballers like Mitch Robinson not glory boys. For crying out loud, go and spend some time with our girls team AND HARDEN UP!!!!!!
Goddamnit. Ask yourselves lads, why should we put aside our time and ever decreasing money for that garbage. AGAIN.
Stuff it. Get it together and call me then. Otherwise, look forward to regaling your mates at the pub about your shot at the big time. I’ve got a life, even under lockdown.

Exactly, as soon as a side exact pressure, we panic, loose composure and crumble. It’s not just talent we lack , we also are devoid of mental toughness.

We'll be 10th to 14th in another embrassing year.
