A 62 point turn around. Nearly every game we have these wild swings of form. Playing fantastic footy, then a standard that would be lucky to beat the Manangatang seconds. Can only be between the ears. We've got plenty of experienced players in the side, if they can't make a difference when the heats on... Play the kids.

I will go back to what Liddle said at player sponsor night that 12 players would be cut.
This club continues to amaze me how people at the top make grand statements and knock the stuffing out of the mentally week players.
We are rebuilding.
It's not about wins and losses.
We need to assess the list.

You keep telling the players they are shit and won't be around for long they will respond accordingly

Aren't the AFL cutting list numbers next year. Think that's might be why the statement was made.

Agree Cranium embarrassing and continue to lose to Hawthorn when we have opportunity to win

Most disappointed I have been all year
Horrendous game only Weitering was ok
Mentally fragile and everyone knew when Hawthorn kicked the last 2 goals of the first quarter we were going to have a holiday
Second quarter was worst quarter this year
How can you beat Geelong and Essendon* and be 5 goals up on Hawthorn and lose

Diabolical and let everyone down

Most disappointing performance of the year. Outside Cripps Weiters and Martin and maybe docherty and cazbolt 3 goals, everyone else beaten

Murphy sps Jones Plowman Setters and kennedy all worst games of the year

Midfield will be bringing the mouth guards to training this week, the second tier just didn’t have a good game as a collective.

Moore and Cuningham meant we played with 20 players for the game.

Plowman and Jones back to making bad decisions and disposal errors.

Pittonet smashed for the second time in three weeks.

Weitering a clear BoG for us.

Moore is terrible. Cunners can play but would never play for Hawks as he doesn't get enough of the ball. Draft gun mids Blues....until then.

So even though we can play some excellent football at times, it does seem we are the worst team in the league for letting teams make serious hay when the sun shines on them. What can we do to make negative momentum shifts less costly? I didn't see the game tonight, so what exactly happened after we went ahead 31-0 and 38-13? Did we start playing cowardly, boundary-hugging, hang-on-for-dear-life dross? Did we keep trying to play free-flowing footy and get carved up like a hot knife through margarine? I'm interested to hear insights from the tactically-minded supporters about what we can do to become one of those teams that can get smashed for a quarter in disposals, clearances etc, but only concede, say, 1.4 rather than 6.1?

They need to front the media and explain themselves for the last 3 quarters.

61 mins sitting in the pocket, if he isn't injured why wouldn't he get a run in the midfield.

This game just highlighted the fact how much we need a player like Wines.

Bloody disgraceful.
From late in the first quarter when the Hawks started to apply pressure we crumbled.
Our midfield was absolutely smashed, Cripps the only one who can hold his head up.
Honestly some players were barely sighted.
Getting pretty sick of this.

Hawthorn consciously checked in at 1/4 time and knew we’d fold like a pack of cards, if they applied the torch, we obliged.

And this is our problem. But how do we change this feeble mentality ? We can't sack half the list. The 'play to your strength' approach of Teague has failed in the main. So where to now ? It has to be get a great coach like Clarko ?

Not surprised at result

Carlton supporters continue to overrate it’s team

Have a close look at the players still in our best 22

By now players like Simpson, Murphy and Ed Curnow should have been replaced

Not remain key players within our team

Simpson and Murphy I agree with, Curnow, not so much has been very good this season.

Murphy passing to hawthorn players on their chest... WTF is going on there.....

Smashed in the contested and uncontested ball after quarter time.
Hawthorn won and ran off way too easily. Our midfield coaches were found out tonight.
Once we started losing the clearances we tried to shrink the space but as normal lost our forward structure. Our big men where effectively out of the game.
Teague needs to fix this.

The game was lost at the selection table.
Moore should never have played.
Murphy is past it.
SPS is out of position.
Eddie isn't having an impact.
Harry McKay gets his marks too far from goal or too wide. He should stay at home, lead from the goal square and force the opposition defence to stay deep to counter it. There is no point your FF getting a mark inside the D50 and having to kick down the line because a fast break is impossible for lack of forwards on the end of it.

Teague looks like the most recent in a line of Carlton coaches who have refused to make any moves on match day, despite the fact defeat is staring us in the face. He was seriously given a lesson tonight on top of the poor selections.

Two weeks ago I was bullish about this season but I think it is now cooked. It's time to look to the future yet again and make some hard decisions with Murphy, Simmo and Eddie. They are all giving it a crack but they aren't really giving us a lot. Of the three, Simmo is the best. It's time for Dow, Philp. Honey, Fisher and others to show us what they have got and we need Jack Silvagni to play midfield every week to take over from Ed.

This was a disappointing game but not entirely unexpected. The Hawks 'ins' were very good and all had good games. Clarkson will be under a lot less pressure this week.

We have the talent base. It's a question of getting games into them and getting them to play 4 quarters.

List management will be critical this season. Cripps has to be the prime target for re-signing. We can't afford to lose him.
