I believe Cottrell has been playing defence in the practice games.
Might be Cottrell to half back and SPS up the ground. Hopefully. Wet weather suits Samo. He's one of those rare players who usually handles wet conditions beautifully.

I thought Murph was the sole reason Fish wasn't getting a game.

Cottrell, boyhood Carlton supporter & his grandad played for us.

Good luck, hope you have a good debut.

The game gets slippery and this little serpent slips around and evades.
He couldn't do that without his good hands.

Interesting thought that the game in the wet changes the usual speed and trajectory of the ball.
Basically, the ball slows down, nd he's in the play longer.

He's good now, and for these conditions vs Weagles.
Something tells me when he's 25-6 he's going to be ... imagine 3 more years of muscle on him.....A-B Grader.

Have the eagles played in the wet this year?

Thanks BV, I haven't seen Cottrell play, but just for this... I like him already!

What sort of benchmark have the TDK and Fisher stans set for their returns?

Well, based on Moore getting a second game after the debacle against North, TDK could put kick a 70m torp the wrong way and hit Kennedy on the chest for his only disposal and still get a pass mark

That would be the club’s measuring stick. From what I read on here, they give games away for nothing - it’s all about the coach’s pets.

I want to know what it’s going to take to fracture the impermeable barrier between reality and whatever the stans see in those two blokes.

FWIW I reckon the pass mark for Fisher would be 16 possessions, 450m gained and/or 4 inside 50s. I wouldn’t be too worried about efficiency or clangers, etc - we’re severely lacking in blokes that can put the ball in our half... if he can tick most of these boxes, I’ll likely change my opinion of him.

The bar is much, much lower for TDK. I’d be ‘impressed’ with 2 marks and as many score involvements.

Good luck to them. I’ll happily cook my own crow for dinner if I’m wrong about either.

I hope this is what happens. IMO, SPS is wasted in defence and should be able to roam around the midfield picking up possessions and delivering inside 50. He is a beautiful kick of the footy both sides and would be a difficult matchup.
I find it interesting that Honey has been getting a lot of mentions in the twos reviews but didn't get picked. Presumably Cottrell has a role Honey isn't ready for or hasn't trained for.

Good luck to the young bloke in his first game.

How is ticketing working? If memory serves we have a pretty good support base over there. Do they get to go or does the reduced capacity mean it will just be full of dirt miners?

Atrocious weather here today. Blowing an absolute gail with heavy rain to come.

Going to be a slog for the boys today.

Perfect weather for footy in Melbourne today.
This game should have been played at PP.

I'm not sure but it might have something to do with the fact that Cottrell is now in his second year on the list and they need to give him a chance so a decision can be made at the end of the year. Honey has a bit more time on his hands.

I wouldn't be too disappointed if Cripps was a late withdrawal today considering the conditions...

What peculiar comment. Would have thought wet weather would suit a big bullocking contested ball beast

We’re probably a better chance of winning this than we were the Hawthorn game tbh
