Was round 22 1987 the last time a kick after the final siren went our way?

Since then, we had Capper in 89, Ben Dixon Peter Burgoyne and now Gray kick goals after the siren leading us to lose. Have a feeling there may be others too.
Also had Sticks miss everything after the siren in 93.

Umm. 3 weeks ago vs Essendon***?

Couldn't forget Peter Riccardi at Etihad

The good news is that we have Adelaide, North, Sydney, Freo, Hawthorn still to come

Coaches talk about not losing to the things you know. Watch Kane Farrells goal last week running past for the handball and goaling from 60. He did the exact same thing today whilst Kade Simpson ran off and left him on his own. He is an elite kick from distance and the handball was always going to go to him.
It should have been in the scouting report and if it was and Simpson switched off, it's inexcusable for a senior player.

They're the smart decisions that seperate the top sides from the others and today was a perfect example.

Yeah we were unlucky not to win but in the end Port deserved it really. I felt they were on top of the contest for longer periods and we couldn’t hold it together when it mattered.

I was hoping we might have finished stronger with the Port players having a 6:30am flight this morning but it wasn't to be. After the Newnes goal it was largely one way traffic in their direction.

Next week against North will be a big test for us.

plenty to like again and overall the better side won...
the key with games like this is to learn & like most have said respond by beating north next week

On the bright side, if we can take one more step up as a side by shit we'll be winning some games.

Not sure the better side won or lost. It was a game that had ebbs and flows of momentum all day.

As frustrating as it was to watch that finish, top 4, top 8 sides no how to shut out games like that , we’re getting there but we still have a way to go . We need to win against north next week .

Same. Plus they had 2 players off injured, then Dixon off with a few min to go.

It's disappointing to lose but Port deserved the win I thought

I genuinely think they were better than us today. We were constantly just managing to hang on when it felt like they would kick away through the second and third quarters. We had a burst in the last quarter but then fluffed it in the last 5 mins. When the game was there to be won, they stood up and dominated the game, we shat our pants and bombed it long just for it to come straight back down

Our percentage is over 100 still and with all the lower scoring you don't need a big win to have it go up by 10%. A 32 pt win for the Suns yesterday knocked their percentage up by 8%.

I thought he had a direct line into Hinkley’s Coaching Box, all his so called “special comments” were actually coaching tactics that Port could make in order to win the game.

A supreme C£€¥.

i think Weiters owned him for 3 qtrs then he was thrown down back. I say think because the commentary is shit so we wouldn't really know.

Great effort overall but a disappointing loss in the end for all the reasons that have been mentioned. As long as they can learn from it.

A big two weeks coming up. We owe North and Hawthorn and we should be beating them both now, no more excuses.

Hope Kane Cornes got a nice look at Sam Walsh today.

Our 4 tall forwards conceded 8 free kicks we got 2 our way up the midfield
Ports tall forwards gave up 1 and got 3 their way inside the forward 50.

Are Caz Gov and Harry unlucky or undisciplined.

I thought we lost it rather than Port win it.
I know they missed some sitters but Cunningham on his right rather than his left then it's game over. Mind you Caz was free right in front of him and Eddie to the right.

Mystery surround Gibbons not looking for short options backwards. Like to see wide angle maybe everyone manned.

It would have been nice to win that.

Unlucky today. Harry sometimes does silly things, but today I thought he was murdered by the umps. Behind in the marking contest, free to the Port defender in front. In front in the marking contest, free to the Port defender behind.

And then you compare it with the amount of physical contact Dixon was getting away with, and getting rewarded for ... I reckon it's the Dusty Martin factor. Dixon's been impressive and much talked about, and so the umps seem to assume then that being top players, they never infringe. Harry's not famous enough to get fair treatment from the umps.

Westhoff deliberately went away from the play all day to allow Dixon space.
I think Teague should have made the switch or he knew Dixon can’t kick straight :donk:

Bizarre decisions.....

... Add Butters blocking Jones.... Apparently that was 'smart play'...??

Should have won it with 40 seconds. Can't see what was going on, but long up the ground MUST be put over the line....otherwise a short option behind?...? I just couldn't figure it out...

Gutted

Go Blues

Robbie Warnock against Geelong a few years ago. Was that after the siren? Can't recall

Neither can he...
