It was great to hear the crowd being so loud for such a small number attending.

Would have been nice for the players too.

The other thing that showed maturity in my view was that Libba and Smith tried to get physical early in the game when we got on top
Previously we would have been intimidated by this but kept our head just went harder at the ball and eventually prevailed
Smith was good but Libba didn’t do much
Also Bruce the week before kicked 6 and intimidated his opponents Jones killed him

This was my take on the game too.
We were lucky they weren't converting or the result would've been much closer (still with the win though).
The boys played a good brand in the wet (actually better than we have in the dry this year) and more players stood up than the usual contributors.
I don't think we should take this win into the game against Port that we are better than what we are either. They are a very good side and can tear us to shreds if we are complacent.
But the win last night was a good morale boost for the club and we just need to keep building on the good things done.
Good game to watch.

Excellent team effort
Now to back it up next week
And if we don't?

If port are simply too good?

What then? Rage about how we're not consistent and the board has to go?

Ah now you reply
Tonight was terrific
You seem like a supporter that is narrow minded
Maybe your not and your just one eyed
Form fluctuations are week to week these days
Despite Docherty being tagged and Cripps having little influence we won convincingly
That’s the most pleasing part
Kennedy looks like he has lost 5 kg
Setterfield played well
Martin is class
McKay finally pulled his finger out
Things are looking up or are they

My message to you is don’t get carried away by one win
Despite this compromised season where you finish at the end of the 17 th game is a reasonable indicator
Of where you are at.
All I want against one of the better teams next week is a contest.
We agree with each other then.

Do we?
Hopefully we continue to improve
And become consistent
With Murphy and Cripps possible outs it’s an opportunity for our youngsters to step up
Win draw or lose hopefully we go well

As for raging against the board
The sooner we cut our relationship with the Pratts and the Mathiesons the better we will be as club
I truly believe that
But that’s for another thread

Good barracking from Blues supporters!

Lots of whining re umpires from Bulldogs supporters.

Ground looked to be in immaculate condition, and was nice for the forecast rain to stay away.

Great game, Blues!

Glad you got to go and enjoy a good win.
It was so good to hear the crowd and the boos directed towards the umpires when they made some very ordinary decisions.
It bet the players appreciated some support too.

The mighty Windies are back!!
A mate just texted me, the last time the Windies won a test series in England was 1995.
Get excited people.

Every game bar one, Eagles last year, in the Teague era where we have come switched on and start well we have won. Every game we have lost, bar that one, we have started real slow. Plenty between the ears.

We're 9-8 under Teague. Go 9-8 this year and we likely play finals the way it's going. If we didn't piss 2 games down the drain with unswitched on bad starts we'd be equal top with Port. All a part of the maturing process I suppose.

Kicking accurately for goal is a big part of winning. They missed some simple ones but mostly they were shots under pressure. That is usually us.
This time, I suspect a lot more of our shots were from better positions; hence greater accuracy.

Wowsers only heard Macrae’s name once in the “commentary”.

May be something like this, but maybe I'm missing alternatives:

5 McRae, Curnow
4 Martin, Martin
3 Keath, Betts
2 McKay, Gibbons
1 Betts, Smith

Surely not McRae 5?

So I'm tipping:

Teague
5 Curnow
4 Martin
3 Betts
2 McKay
1 Smith

Beveridge:
5 McRae
4 Martin
3 Keath
2 Gibbons
1 Betts

plain wrong.

Came to same conclusion. Staggered anyone gave McRae 5 votes for that game. He was solid, like Walsh, but barely noticed either of them or any impact from them. Smith and a couple of their lesser known youngsters were doing the damage for them.
