I mentioned Selwood..............i would move heaven and earth to get him to our club.He aint a plastic tough guy.He is the real deal.................the place needs a shakeup.Move the deck chairs.Rearrange the furniture.Do something differant. We have been playing follow the leader for twenty years.Go old carlton, set the trend instead of being a sheep.

I suppose it was meant to be humorous but it was also meant to be true.

I disagree with this.
Selwood is over the hill. Why not recruit kids who have the same attitude as Selwood. One of the reasons we have been so poor has been recruiting blokes who are passed it

Weren't the other posters talking about getting Selwood in as a coach, not a player?

In fairness I did say I’d take Shaw for a year as a player if it meant getting him as a coach

No probs Rex...............Shaw has got a gob the size of a quarry.Very lippy .I would take that.Anything to get 'em going'..........i think we have the makings of a decent side.Big problem i reckon is the players themselves don't believe it.Its like they have no faith in themselves.Dont see any extroverts in the side. That not there fault but sometimes a gee up from a teammate does wonders. You know, the bloke thats continually talking it up no matter what.Thats the thing with Shaw,no matter how dire things are he never shuts up and refuses to cower..........he annoys the shit out of me actually but i admire his never say die attitude.

And as a coach he would have one lesson, Mr Miagi style:

1) duck your head and get the free
2) fast learn rule number 1.

It's games like this that make it worse. You could see from the first minute we were on. That's the effort we want each week

Young team. We’re not gonna go from bottom 4 to top 4 straight away. From where we were 12 months ago when Bolton got sacked we have come a long long long way. We’ve been competitive in every game. We’ve only lost games due to giving up 5-6 goal starts and even then we’ve come back to have a chance in all of them. We’re still a young team and we’re learning consistency. Wins like this will help a lot with confidence

Tonight was great, it was enjoyable, it was even relaxing. Let's see how they start next week.

Just think about this .
We have 11 games to play this year.
3 against teams above us
8 against teams below us.

I bet you didn't think that was going to be the case

The boys have plenty to play for.
They want to make a name for themselves and win a flag.
The losses to Tigers Dees and Saints were caused by a bad First Qtr
The Dees loss burns.

The must believe now, if they didn't before

Anything can happen.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Apart from Port being excellent, Adelaide being LOLtastic and Essendon* engaging in medical malpractice, there have been very few constants this season. Ladder placings will be meaningless until about R12.

Good summation from Titus O’Reilly in his preview for this round.

https://www.titusoreily.com/afl/a-highl ... und-seven2

Carlton

“I’ve been hurt too many times to just forget everything and go back to loving them unconditionally. I mean, I want to love them, but we have trust issues and while I’m keen to work through them, and there’s been some promising signs, I just can’t let myself get hurt again. Don’t get me wrong, I think all the time about those great times back in the 80s and 90s. We were so happy, and I want that again, but I worry just too much has happened and we’ll never get back there.”
