I agree it is time for the excuses to end. It comes down to one person and that is teague.
He needs to be tough and uncompromising, now.

Last year we won 1 of our first 11 games. This year we're 2-3 and % of 88.9.
Yes patience is wearing thin after 2 decades of dismal results but I wouldn't be writing the season off yet. I want significant improvement this year. Maybe 6-8 wins. That's still possible.
Let's not expect miracles.

I wouldn’t call 6-8 wins significant ... I’d like to see significant improvement in consistent effort ...

You are not going to cut it when you put out a team with 7 players 80kg or less and 6 big lumberers .
Might have worked with our midget fleet in late 70's early 80's but not now.
We get knocked off the ball and have to commit 2 or 3 to the tackle.
We give away to many frees because we scrag and pull jumpers instead of body on body. We also give away to many 50 meters .

I worry because the guys waiting in the wings are Fisher Dow LOB and TDK who are all light weights.
Our 3 most senior players are the runts of the litter and can't impose themselves on games.

When the game opens up we hold our own but when it's a close tight contested game we get knocked about.

We send 2 or 3 to the tackle leaving 2 lose and get carved up on the outside

We have been heavier than every side we have played this year but our mids and ball getters are light weights

As others have said ,until the whole club develops a ruthless approach to every aspect of making this club successful we will go nowhere. How many times have we heard the players say we are competitive beasts , we’ll bloody well convince me !!!. Most of our players tackle with as much intensity as my dear mum and she’s 84 . There is NO excuse for not being switched on, you are professional sportsman .

Sydney, I would argue Martin is our best tackler and most courages, yet he isn’t much bigger then Simpson. Attitude, endeavour and willingness is what’s wrong with us.

In a 17 game season? I'd think 8 wins would be a significant improvement.

Me too. Pre season I thought we could win 10. That was 10 out 22. 8 out 17 is a similar win/loss ratio and would be a good achievement.

Our coaching dept...can someone tell me one match day coach with a hard, 'arseh0l3' edge who has been part of a winning/successful culture?

FMD...even StK went and got Roughead who has come from one of the best finishing schools in the AFL

Therefore, significant improvement (numerically at least) should be >= 8 wins.

Anything < 8 is an underachievement for mine

Didnt we win 7 last year in a 22 round season, 6 of which were won in the second half of the season??

Martin is listed 83kg.
You get the odd bloke who is small that can hold his own .
But you can't have 7 light blokes.
Cunningham is listed at 85kg. There is no way he is that heavy if Murphy is 80

Anyhow what comes next once you run out of patience?
Another club?
Another sport?

Won 6 from last 11
Time to take off the nappy and stop all the bullshit excuses
You cannot possibly be happy with Thursdays effort or game style, well i'm not.
Never will be content with loosing, especially in that manner, Teague shouldn't be either if he has high aspirations for this group going forward.

Agreed

Minimum 8 wins this year otherwise its a failure...DT has had a whole preseason with them + Docherty + Martin...Enough...enough...enough

What was served up on Thursday versus St Kilda was the same old conditional and unacceptable level of performance that we’ve always put up when we should have turned up to play but didn’t.

I wouldn’t have had a problem losing this game if we’d had a fair dinkum four quarter effort and crack.

I’d still be salty and shitty but I’d at least see that we were heading in the right direction.

If you have a look at the recruitment by sides like Bulldogs, Essendon* and Brisbane even Melbourne, we’ve been left miles behind.

Seasons end they need to get a Wines, I’d go after Saad again, and Papley. If it means losing a couple of players in the trades and having third round plus picks for a year so be it.

I worry that Dow, LoB, Stocker, even Walsh just won’t make it without senior players around them.

And Charlie Curnow owes us and needs to pay in spades starting next year
